Yesterday my dealer hooked me up big time.

In Early October I special ordered braided cables for my dyna...

In early January they had still yet to arrive...

So, I sold my dyna.....

and cancelled my braided cable order.....

And was charged a 20% restock fee!!!

My dealer does a lot.

They have free concerts most Saturday nights except in the winter, some of them are a ten dollar cover if its a big name group.

They have customer appreciation days were you get 20% off.

They sell at MSRP, and even less.

The owner is very active in the dealer ship, does ride.

The owner is usually at the concerts and partiing with everyone.

Thows a christmas party for prefered customers and provied all the food, and adult beverages.  And opens the store for 25% off.

The staff is friendly and helpfull.  I have become good friends with one salesman, and have know the head mechanic there since long before the dealership opened its doors.

The one around here will give you the 1k service "free". They don't mention the fact that you have to pay way above MSRP to get that.

My dealer specializes in cleaning.  Like cleaning out my bank account!

I specialize in cleaning my bike when I get it back from the dealer.
It was clean when I took it in, dirty when I got it back.
Not to mention that my bike is a little bit faster now, due to better power to weight ratio................less weight in my wallet!

my local dealer sucks!!! never got anything right for anyone i heard about. nobody likes them. went to a small family owned harley shop in big springs tx to buy my serg. best people u ever met. the owners son/sales manager/finance(he does it all) even personally wiped bike down b4 i left. all bikes at msrp. service is exellent. also sent the personalized plaque. all services are cheeper than the one by the house. will never walk into odessa harley dealer again!!!

Picked up my bike less then a week ago from Baltimore HD. I live 3 hours away and they paid for my gas, meals and a room for my wife and myself. Several days after the sales manager call to make sure everything was Ok and today I recieved a card in the mail.

My husband traded his V-rod at Big Moose HD in Portland, ME.-about 2 hours from the house. We went there on a cold, rainy day in the cage, not really knowing if he was gonna trade or not. They delivered the EG to the house and picked up the V-rod. About two weeks later they sent a congrats card with a 25% off coupon for anything in the store. Then at his Bday they sent him a card too. Oh, I got a free shirt out of the deal.

Reading the posts in this thread, I sense a great deal of frustration. I am happy with my dealer and the service and the prices. But this is not what I wish to convey here.

I am convinced that more than in any other business relation, for your dealer relationship the success is based on managing them well. We have a proverb, which translates somewhat into "How you shout into the forest, that is how you will receive the response". It has never hit the nail more on the head, than with Harley dealers. A while ago we had a similar thread and people commented on how the build a relationship with not only the owner or the sales person, but also with the service manager, the guy who actually works on the bike, even the chicks in the clothes department. I think that is crucial. You may say, for my money I should have enough leverage in just being a customer. Well with Harley dealers that does not work in my experience. The Harley dealer is a place where you have to start building a relationship with the people who work with you and on your bike.
