Title: 09 Headlight Bezel on my 01 Blackbird

Well just couldn't help myself saw one on Ebay with a buy it now so I did.  Put it on at the at the shop tonight.  I must say I am pleased.  I'll post couple of pics.  IMHO moco or someone should have made something like this long time ago.  I am betting there will be allot of them retro'd onto Road Glides.

I finally got it through my head what this new trim piece is.  Was too dense to understand what was what before now.  Hope it looks good without the lighter background color to give it contrast.  Just ordered one to plug against midnight red.

The midnight red is so dark I think the black will blend in without needing to do anything else.

Plus, the textured plastic piece that's in there now is black. :2vrolijk_21:  Should look good when it's done, though I kinda like the clear plastic cover if for no other reason than the rock protection it provides the headlights.

Can't discount the idea of a little extra protection.  But we've both seen Road Glides for years that haven't had their bubble on the nose.  Rather than actually breaking more likely will be microscratching and an acquired hazy look as time passes.  Just have to keep an eye on it.

Shouldn't be anymore of a thang than it is on your or my Electra Glides, I just always thought it was sort of a neat feature of the Road Glides.  Then again, I'm sure I've busted more than my share of bulbs on the front of motorcycles over the years from stray, flying crap, so I'm a little biased to having some protection up there.

Part number, please.  I like this.  Already have the bubble off of mine.  Bugs are a problem to get out sometimes.  But I like the look without it.

Hey, mlofton, welcome to the site! :beerchug:

Nice B/O/W SERG!  How's come your air cleaner cover is tilted like that, though?! :nixweiss:

You are forever making me take second looks. :o ;D.. you don't miss a thing. :2vrolijk_21: When I enlarged the picture it appears to be some tube or something running down beside the rear cylinder... wonder if that's the reason it's tilted? :nixweiss:

 8)   Little know secret, but it made 3 more ft# on the dyno with the ac  turned ..   No, seriously, I had just picked it up in Memphis where I bought it last August and was about 200 miles into a 650 mile trip home to South LA. The ac cover was loose and I noticed it later and fixed it. Thanks for the kind words. The bike is great and have done some upgrades since this pic was taken.  I like the headlight bezel but can't seem to find the HD part #69987-09 for it. Is that the correct number ?

P. S. FYI -  I installed a Pingle electric, clutchless, shifter this weekend!!   It is the cats meow and bad a-- !!

Any comments?

Thanks

 8)  I don't know if the guy I bought it from in Memphis was a member or not. I thought I was living large with my RK police and my SERG , but it looks like you have 3 fine rides in your stable. I must not be doing something right. How does your 2000 SERG idle ? I dont know what cams are in mine but it idles like a old evo with a hefty cam. Sounds great and it will outrun most anything around here but the previous owner bought  it 3 or 4 months before he sold it to me and the original owner is deceased so I have no one to ask about cam changes. I wonder if HD could check the vin and find out what work was done to it and where?

Thanks

You must have non-stock cams.  Mine idles like a sewing machine. :-\

From what some guys here have posted, some dealers are reluctant to release service history from prior owners, but I was able to get the history on my SERG from the selling dealer.  They simply magic markered over the original owner's name and contact information prior to giving me the print-outs, which was fine with me.

;D  More then likley if it runs like a stripped ape then the work wasn't done at a Harley dealer ship anyway. :orange:
Here is the link to the Ebay sale where I bought mine, not sure if the price is anything special or not, but it was under the magic $100 mark.  He maybe a dealer and have more.

I remember this bike from this site some months ago....I believe the owner/seller lives in Arlington, TN

He had it sold and the guy backed out at the last minute....glad to see it found a good home!

My impression is/was that he is a member on this board.....

Dash,

I think you are right.  He bought it and wanted to sell it  soon after because of some financial considerations.  As I remember, his screen name was Goldwing.

8)Thats correct. He had owned the bike a short time when his wife wanted her bathroom finished or something like that. The original owner was deceased and he bought it from his son. I don't remember where. I wonder if that car fax thing will work on bikes? I would like to find out where the bike came from and it's history.  I wouder if HD would assist?
