OK.... I'm not quite at 1K yet... but 987 is close enough.

All in all, this is absolutely THE BEST HD I have ever owned...

Aside from the few quirks mentioned previously....

  • Throttle Sticking (FIXED)
  • One grip upside down (or are they all like this?)
  • Seat gap rearing its ugly head after 500 miles...
  • Ride a bit stiffer than I like, but bearable
  • Useless yet cool looking windscreen

No runs, no hits no errors...

I'm VERY happy with my purchase...  :-*

I'm at almost 2,000 miles. Zero complaints from me, well maybe one. That wind deflector is crap. This really is a great bike

You gonna leave the stock windscreen, or replace it?

Way to rack up a quick 1000 miles!

I have read everyone's comments... and agree that seems like an immediate must-do mod... I just asked given the fact that you're on an island and there is limited opportunity to get out on the open road, so would it be a great improvement to swap it out, given everyone also agrees it is pretty cool looking.

I used it for two weeks and 1200 miles. The turbulence hit my chest so the air around the helmet was OK. I now have a CV sport medium (great support from the vendor section of this site). I actually liked the stock for low mile days in moderate temperature, but not for touring or poor weather

...and weather is the key reason I say this piece is useless.

Sure, I live in Hawaii and have the luxury of riding 365 days/year... but on some days it's not a bearable as you may think.

Nothing more joyous than scrubbing the nooks and crannies of road grime from rainy weather off a new CVO!

Just curious. Does your throttle stick @ any particular time? I have a 2009 CVO Road Glide with 780 miles and if I inadvertently touch the throttle during warm up (before the tachometer hits 1000 rpm) it causes the engine  rpms to increase.

Hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am with mine.

    Best regards.

Just turned 2K, and just got back from 1K trip to Daytona, seat gap was fixed with Mustang solo seat, replace windshield with Klocks Werks 12", but really not adequte for road trip will start looking for 13" or 14", love the 6 gal. tank, I nick name each bike I own, and this on is going to be called "arrow", it without dout is the best riding bike I have ever owned, I can't wait until our west coast trip in May.

    Steve,

Techs found an errant piece of chrome stuck between the throttle sleeve and the bar... causing the hangup.

Jettjocky – Looks GREAT on your CERG.   Is this the 15” solo with driver backrest # 79600 and fender bib # 78064? Does the seat fit into existing H-D hardware or did you have to purchase a particular mounting kit?  My CERG won't arrive until June so I have no idea what's under the standard seat.

5100 miles and I am loving every mile. Not one problem but I did change the windshield to a Kuryakyn sport windshield. It gives the bike a more sporty look. Will post pictures tomorrow.

Just tell Mustang you want the solo seat for the SERG, advise if you want back rest, and if you want the separate pass. seat, at the time I ordered it no part number was yet assigned.  As to comfort, yes, I had a Mustang solo on my o4 bike & rode it 80K, then sold it to a buddie that is still riding it.

Just came op on 8000 miles and LOVE THE BIKE!!
Have had several rides through the winding mountain roads and it moves very somoothly in and out of all the turns. Like all Glides it cuts through wind like no other HD.
draw backs are minimal, the gap between the tank and seat grows and my seat is has a larger gap on the right side.
know your reset for the security system as I ran into some electronic interference on a run and the system would not respond to my fob. easily fixed when reset. (read your manual)
The cruise control sticks abit at times, other than that
LOVE THE BIKE. HD did it right

That mustang looks good.  How is the riding position compaired to stock?

Is it the same hight or move you up?

Does it move you forward or about the same?

I ask cause I like the mustang solo on my fatboy but it moved me up 1 and forward one.  Not sure I want to do that on the SERG

To be very honest, & I assume that's what you want, I guess maybe a little higher than stock, maybe a touch forward, but with out switching back and forth, which I really have no interest in doing I can't tell you, all I know is I have made the transition in handle bars &  ultra seat position to the RG which I how find is very comfortable.

    Thanks for the answer.

You were quicker than mustang.  Both you and mustang indicate it will move you up and forward.

Mustang said one inch up and one inch forward from a stock RG seat.

Unfortunatly that is not what I want, I want the same position as stock SERG.  That is to bad, as I am very happy with the solo mustang on my fatboy.

Its down to the Danny Gray and Corbin solo's now.  Most likely the Danny Gray.

Navy sure did not like that comment when I told them that was why I was retireing at 20 years.

I sure had fun while serving, but 20 was enough for me.

FLSTFIDave – I know what you mean regarding the Navy's inability to listen to your needs.  Listen to the latest offer from the AF (probably other services too).  They want to bring back under 60 year old retired rated officers for two years so they can sit a command post somewhere in the sand box to free up younger aircrew members back to CONUS.  Oh, and they will not give you flight pay; only your retired rank. I understand their rational but…

Crusty – Wow, 23.5 that's a lot of bag drags.  I admire you and thank you for your service, but remember anything more than 20 and you're working for half pay.  I know I spent 22+ in the AF before I retired.

While that may be true, staying in for 30 and retiring on 75% of E9 pay ain't a bad deal either... and since I still enjoy what I do, getting out would mean I'd have to figure out what I want to do when I grow up.

Chief – I agree there was nothing better than active duty.  However, as I get older I find my job as a contractor instructing aircrew members how to fly the BUFF very rewarding, especially when you consider I don't have to worry about packing up every 6 months to go TDY.  I don't think any of us really know what we'll do when we grow up.

GROW UP :o  No one told me I have to grow up :-\  Hell, that's why I bought the SERG ;D

I took a year off and didn't even think about looking for work.  Started to run out of projects and let's face it...even with great planning and the ability to live off my retirement, I needed to DO something constructive (i.e. work) with my time and with the second income...well, you know....

Only problem is, we paid more in taxes last year than what my wife makes >:(  TEA ANYONE!!!

When I retired at 20 years my first job was more than double what I was making as an E-7 with 20 years, counting my sea pay.

My taxes this year are only 2000 dollars less than Base pay of an E-7 for a full year in 2001 when I retired.

I am all for a tea party....
