Alarm red light stays on?
« on: July 20, 2015, 01:05:17 PM »

Hi all,
I was touring around on Saturday, after cruising down the motorway just pushing 60mph the red alarm light came on and stayed on?
I have phoned the HD dealer who has no idea what this is as they have not had the problem before.
any ideas folks?

Mine came on one time when I had a blown fuse, not sure if that helps you.

It will come on if you have a light out after the bike senses the wrong resistance.  It will reset once the bike is turned off, until the problem comes back.  Turn signals will only show up after their use.

Thank you for the reply. looks like back to the dealer to find the fault as all the lights are fine. I did have a sissy bar LED light fitted by the dealer, wonder if this is causing the fault.

cheers

When in doubt, it usually is a good idea to think back to any recent changes to see if something done recently caused the problem.

If you know how to read the diagnostic trouble codes stored by the bike when that light comes on, the codes will usually lead you to the area of the problem.  There are some threads around here explaining how to read the codes using the odometer window.

Mine will come on too, depending on where my key fob is located on my person.  If in a leather jacket pocket it will come on. If I change the location of the key fob the light will go out (most of the time).
