Dave, I have one of the Kimber Ultra Carry II. TLE.  As well as 2 other Kimbers an Original Kimber from the original company which was one of the first ones they released, as well as one from the Custom Shop.

Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.   Was hoping my local dealer would bring in another full size TLE in 45.

Ordered a Milt Sparks waist concealed holster for it.

The UC2 TLE Shoots great

The P7 is the best I have ever shot!

BigLew

My favorites though are the H&K Squeeze Cockers   P7M8 and P7M13.

And that my friends was a 9mm. No way he carries half that many .45 critical defense. Don't play with your life, if you gonna carry, carry something that talks!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I agree!  I carry a Kimber Stainless II, 5", in a Shoulder Holster on the Motorsickle, and a S&W 686, in the DuraMaxx.  I won't publish the ammo, but like you said, it will talk!  God forbid I ever have to break leather.

I was talking to a dealer today about the new Kimber Rapide Black Ice. He said the new Kimber's are not as well made as the older ones. He said he wouldn't hesitate to buy an older model, but the new ones...not so much. Anybody have any experience with a recently manufactured Kimber?

Interesting.  I had not heard this.  But until you went into the custom 1911's Kimber was considered top of the line along with Springfield armory.

You start looking at Les Baer, Ed Brown or Wilson you are looking at a lot more money but Fantastic top of the line guns.

In the words of facebunk,  without context .........

What is an older model?
Pistols made in Yonkers?
Pistols made in Yonkers, pre shut down?

In Yonkers before employees found out they were losing their jobs?
Who remembers the quality of 1968-69 HDs compared to 1970+

Pistols made in Alabama?

I have a Kimber Ultra Covert II 45ACP. Very nicely made, and capable of accuracy greater than I am capable of.
Fit and finish is excellent and being a 1911 style, it just fits.

Only negative is the take down procedure. You do not want to pull the slide without reading the directions.

Not as difficult as the Ruger Mark III 22 but can be challenging done wrong.

I have a Kimber Micro 9 that I’ve carried for the last couple years. My first Kimber and I’ve been looking at the black ice myself.

Agreed.  I no longer shoot my Kimber at the Range.  Too damn hard to clean!!!!  I practice with my Revolvers only, now.  Simple.  Later--HUBBARD

Don't know. Bought it used/unused 3 1/2 years ago.
And I haven't found any websites that you can look up kimber serial numbers.

Well, ended up leaving the Kimber in his safe for now. I have always been partial to Springfields and ran across this one that I just couldn't pass up. I may go back and pick up the Kimber later, but its sure hard to get away from Springfield.

Have always carried on the bike, and probably always will.  Current favorite carry gun is a SIG P365.

How is the Kimber different than any other 1911 to disassemble and reassemble?
