Title: H.D. Tourpack Quick Detatch lock
Post by: fos41 on June 10, 2017, 11:45:43 AM
I lost the key for the quick detach locks on my S.G. tourpack. Can a locksmith get a key and figure out code to unlock w/o going to dealer to buy more locks?

Do you have the metal key code tab? When purchased new, you get two keys (short and long handle) with key code.

Barrel keys, (yes that's what they are called ) are very hard to "pick" and even if a smith could pick it, would cost you more than a new lock assembly. You are probably better off just breaking the lock and buying a new one. I've heard that you can take a pair of vicegrips, lock on to it and force the plunger part to break, but using a dremmel on the plunger would be less violent.

Personally I have both sides using a lockable lever. If you do that you have to modify the rear docking points, cutting off the plastic ring on the outside face on both sides. I scratched the faces a bit using my drummel, but with the TP locked in, and I have the little magnetic caps when no TP
On, you can't see the two or three scratches.

After you do get it open, you can go to the dealer with your VIN and they can order lock cylinder that's matched to your saddle bags you have one key that works for all, I think its about $35.00 and takes a couple of weeks,
