C & C Seat
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:46:27 PM »

Just opened my C&C solo seat with flame stitching & backrest.Yeah I know  :worthless: but I had shoulder surgery a few days ago & my wife won't let me in the shop "till I see the Dr in 10 days.Going to drive me nuts not being able to mount it & at least sit on it.What a QUALITY product !! Right around 2 weeks from order to delivery around $500.Talked to Chuck a number of times.Nice to be able to pick the guys brain that's making your seat.

Nice flame job.  Is the seat leather or vinyl?

I am thinking about getting the Solo seat but am leaning towards no stiching because every time it rains a little bit water always seeps through the stiching and you end up with a wet ass all day.

Thanks!  Nice seats!

Damn.... never thought about that. :nervous:

Those that have either the C&C seat w/stitches can you let us know if this indeed is a worry. I would think there would be some way to seal the stitches from underneath. :nixweiss:

Thought of that.Got to modify my rain cover so I can snap it on without removing the back rest. Then the hard part is remembering to use it.

Harley leather dressing helps, but will still pick up a little water in a hard rain. Not a problem if your buts on the seat. The safe bet is no stitching but I think the looks are worth it.

You and me both. :2vrolijk_21: If I were doing another seat I'd have to add the stitching.... it really sets the seat off.

Happy T day

I have not had a problem with that in the area of my insert but I have experienced it on other seats. Stands to reason it will happen to some degree. Will be getting a C&C solo for the 02 soon.

Jeff does that seat fit over the existing rider backrest bracket? I'm thinking it's the sport touring model (or whatever that model is called).

You have to remove the bracket. It just unbolts, no biggie. The C&C backrest is built into the seat. This is the Sport Tour. I may have to go with this instead of a solo on the 02 as their's a bit of a paint issue under the OEM seat. Dang!  :o

Kewl, thanks. :2vrolijk_21: I've had that bracket off before to move it back trying to find the best location for stock seat. From the look of that seat I'm thinking about going w/out a backrest. Have tried to use the one that came w/my seat but it feels like it pushes me to far forward. The C&C seat looks like it has more back support built into the seat which might be just fine for me. :nixweiss:

I have found no need for the back rest with this seat. It is scooped enough to offer me all the support I need. I do use it on the solo for long rides, like to Maggie Valley.

Ask your BSR which seat, keeps peace in the family!

You'll love it if you get one.

Thanks again...

Any seat will be better then stock for the BSR and asking for a suggestion I could end up w/a pillow look seat. :nervous:

For bikes that came with rider backrests that is the bracket under the seat they fit in.

You got that right... I made the mistake of getting a Tallboy seat and letting her see it before I put it on the bike.... put it on the bike and took it right off (didn't like they way it looked). After seeing the TS w/the C&C seat w/the orange stitching I was thinking that would look nice on my :pumpkin:. Will probably wait until after getting thru the holidays and see if I still have the feeling I do now about it. :-\

Be sure their seats will mate well between the nose of the seat and the tail of the dash Jeff.  The SERK dash is a lot narrower down there than Road Kings or even the SEEGs and FLHX bikes.

Not impossible, but not interchangeable.C & C  uses flat stock & Corbin uses sq. stock to plug into the seat.Would have to change the plug on the seat.

Always rather catch something like that before spending $$ rather than after.  For sake of comparison I just checked Corbin's site.  Knew I'd seen their seats on 02-03 SERKs before so wondered if they were model specific or just some other model that fit well.  Corbin does have a model specific variant for the classic SERKs.

You have to remove the bracket. It just unbolts, no biggie. The C&C backrest is built into the seat. This is the Sport Tour. I may have to go with this instead of a solo on the 02 as their's a bit of a paint issue under the OEM seat. Dang!  :o

JW

Do you have a pic that shows the bike with the mounted seat ?

Thanks Jeff.  When my time comes I've already got images in my head of a dark maroon outer belt surrounding one of the dark red stingray skins they offer.  A bike color keyed complement to the stock stingray seat.

The seat shape compliments the bike very nice.  Looks like a great seat choice for when you have an occasional BSR (not long distance for the BSR though).

Finaly got to install hawg wired double shot. Other mods so far, 10" windvest, gas cap cover, chrome insturment covers and chrome mirror cover, C&C fast back seat, fulsac 2" stage 1 with fulsac tune from tts tuner, she sure does sound and runs great. now its time to get back to working on drag bikes, race season will be here before i can get things ready. Me and and my son run a full outlaw Busa. 2 street strip Busas and a 09 Vmax. But Im sure there will be more to come on the cvo.

Exactly.

Have ridden nothing but Corbins for many many years.  The materials options available here have me very interested though.  Whenever it's time the SERK's seat will likely be C&C.

That solo seat looks great on the SESG.  Complaments the smooth lines of the rear end of this bike.

Does anyone have a C&C Seat on a Tequila with the insert fabric?  I am thinking of getting something similar, but I don't know what color would go best with the Tequila?

Here is a pic of my C&C seat on my 2010 SE Streetglide, and I love it!

Looks very nice!  How is the seating position and comfort relative to the stock seat?  Forward/Back/Higher/lower.

The seat position is close to stock. It is a little narrower. Seams to be a bit more firmer. I have'nt had a chance to ride it with the new seat. The weather sucks, last week really cold. This week lots of rain.

The seat comfort issue has been beat to death over the years.  A few years back I was accused of having more seats in my garage than I had clothes in my closet. :nixweiss:

I've come to learn that the soft cushy seats (like I had on a couple of Ultra Classics) are very comfortable initially and that comfort lasts for an hour or two then quickly becomes very uncomfortable.  The firmer the seat, the more comfortable on the long haul so that seat will probably be a comfortable seat going forward. :2vrolijk_21:

I could never explain why my Corbin is the hardest (to the touch) seat I've ever owned......and the most comfortable. :nixweiss:

Affirmative Sir: The best long Haul seat I have owned to date was a Saddlemen Gel seat. (Used this seat on multiple bikes)

They are very firm to the touch and have 3/4" of gel in them/ they disperse the weight eliminating pressure points. This allows better blood flow especially around the hips.

Many have the false conception that soft = comfort when Physics dictates the exact opposite.

Haven't had a Corbin or C&C but will be considering them for the SESG.

I was initially going to go with a Gel seat from C &C, but Chuck told me that he recommends the regular seat becuase he has had better feedback on it.  He is sending me fabric samples right now (need to match something up to the Tequila!)

Haven't had the C&C but the Gel seat from Saddleman was the most comfortable long haul seat I've ridden. Several other riders in our group switched and seem pleased. The most pleased though have been the BSR's the rear of the Explorer is 3/4" Gel and 14.5" wide giving more support and displacing the weight.

Here is a shot of my Explorer it had 60,000 miles on it.

I got the C&C seat for Xmas.  Love it, really looks nice on the bike but haven't had time to ride yet.  The company was very good to deal with and they included the necessary installation bracket, shipped same day and even gave my wife a discount on the purchase.  Shipping was also very inexpensive, about $8.  The are only about 50 miles from me.

That is a beautiful seat! I would love to have one on my SERG. I have a question? I was wondering how that color stiching will hold up as far as staying that color and not getting dirty and black from normal riding? Do you guys have a methoed of cleaning it? I have ordered a half dozen custom seats from corbin and they always will try to talk you out of color stitching in the seat for that reason. Somebody enlighten me please?  :2vrolijk_21:

Racer-

Chuck from C &C told me that the gator might fade over time, and with sunlight exposure, but he said it is an easy fix with a dye.  He didn't mention anything about the thread fading.  It would seem like in order to get stains off of the stitiching on my seat, I would use exactly what I use to get stains off of the stitching on my boots.......saddle soap.  Not sure if this would work, but I certainly don't see it damaging the leather/stitching becuase basically it is just a low detergent soap.

Interested in the underside not having seen one yet? My concern is how it is set up to protect the paint?
I have had aftermarket seats rub through the paint before? By the time I realized it ooops too late?

Does it have some sort of coating / protection underneath?

Wheels,

It had a nice thick felt coating on the bottom, these seats are very well crafted, It didn't seem like the pan would rub the paint in any location.  However, I haven't ridden it yet due to the cold here in the desert, but I am sure I will find out if it does rub the paint!!   :nixweiss:

Yes it does have a nice felt glued to the underside, but I put 3M film under it anyway.

My bike already had a protective film of some sort underneath the stock seat, is this 3M?  Does anyone know?  The only problem is that there are some air bubbles and folds in it, I might just replace it anyway.

Are any of you happy C&C Customers vertically challenged..?  I've got a 29" inseam and an shopping for a 2-Up seat for my ultra (limited).  I've had Corbin seats over the years and always been very happy...  however I can't stand the new stitch pattern of the seat for 2009/2010. I have a corbin solo on my serg.

Does the C&C seat actually move you back and away from the handlebars..?  Being short, I can't afford to move much farther back without having to change the handlebars. The bike still has the stock seat and the distance to the bars is fine.  However the seat is redicously puffy and I'm just barely able to flat foot...

Any help regarding C&C seats would be appreciated.

I have the same challenge! My C&C seats let me stand flat footed. You can talk with Chuck to make sure he does not move you back any as well as down as low as you can go! I love my C&Cs!

I like my C&C seat and I'd say the position was fairly neutral to the original.  It's about 1" narrower about the same height and distance back.  I'm 6"3" so it's not critical for me but feeling wise it's about the same position.

Here's my new C&C - I love it and I think it looks great IMHO. The leathers go well with the gold and the red stitch is subtitle blend with the Tequila. I was VERY nervous about going off the reservations with these colors, but my wife was the one who picked them – she’s a keeper (and so is bike & seat). ;D

Without seeing the seat with the swooshes/stripes in the paint you'd never put that saddle with that bike.  Together that's glorious though.  Gorgeous saddle.

Almost too pretty to sit on.
