Newbie Intro:Maryland/Virginia
« on: March 20, 2007, 12:58:31 PM »

Hello all,

Just picked up a 05 FLHTSE2 in Candy 2 tone candy Cherry.  Not perfect but not bad either.  I do need a new front fender and want to stay with the factory paint scheme.   Not sure if I got a good deal or not,  paid 18K for it and it has 1,800 miles.   Like I said, needs a front fender had a few scratches that I've already dressed and it came out great.   Bone stock and looking to do a free flowing exhaust and tuner to fatten up the mixture a bit and keep Mr. Heat to a minimum.  Any suggestions or comments would be very welcome about what worked for you,  not looking to turn this thing into a hot rod,  just looking to make it a little more user friendly.

I live in Maryland but work in Virginia,  I bounce back and forth from both,  have houses in each.    Been into bikes for a long time and have been bikeless for the last 6 years,  thought it was time to do it again.

If anyone knows where I can find a new or nice front fender in the 2 tone Candy Cherry paint combo, please let me know.

Thanks and look forward meeting and corresponding with folks with a like interest.

I'd send some pics but they all look the same,  except mine has a boo-boo on the front fender!

zrwhat,
Welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21: You should be able to get a fender from the MoCo already painted. Several members here have had good luck w/local painters matching paint also, but this would require buying a fender and having it painted so it might be close in price just to get it pre-painted from factory. Good luck.

I've got a line on the PPG paint codes from Harley,  I'm pretty handy with a spray gun and have the equipment to do it , just figured its easier, quicker, cleaner buying one already done,  not a really good pin striper,  would have to have it striped before I did a final cleared on it,  or I just may give it a shot, all I can do is booger it up and if I lock the second and third stage with clear,  its just a matter of starting over with the pin striping,  wipe it off and start over.   BIG Bucks for a factory fender already done unless its only laying around collecting dust at a dealership somewhere.

If anybody knows of one,  sure would help....

Welcome to the site.  Lot's of good people and information here.  And we're all willing to spend your money for you.  ;D  Looks like you got a pretty good deal for $18K and only 1800 miles.  What did he do to get that "ding" on the front fender?  Looks like he ran into a wall or something...

Not sure what happened,  I'm waiting on more info from the insurance company the guy had.

I think the tip of the fender was bent down and someone (probably the driver) bent it back up to get it away from the tire,  stretched the metal in the process.  No big deal.   There were some small abrasions on some of the painted items that came right out without taking off too much surface clear.

The reality is I don't have to worry about the bike ever going down for the first time,  its already been there,  kinda like your first scratch/ding on your brand new car,  I'm sure most of us have been there.

A Great Big CVO Welcome to you.  It is a lot of fun here.   :bananarock:

I have a fairly big divot out of my front fender right now.  Too bad about timing as the dealer damaged the front fender and had to replace it - about 6 weeks before some stone took a thumbnail size chunk out of the paint.

But then, till I feel like paying for a new fender myself or get paint done, it does not slow the bike down one bit.

Enjoy it here and look forward to running into you on the road.   :cherry:
