Can you install a CB Radio in 2019 CVO RG?
« on: March 05, 2019, 11:28:30 AM »

I have a friend that is about to buy a 2019 CVO RG Custom.  She is one of our Road Captains and therefore uses the CB quite a lot.  She is being told that the CB module cannot be installed in the new bike.  I'm just not sure why that would be the case.  Anyone install a CB module in their 2019 CVO yet to help me understand why that might be the case?  You can install a WHIM and a CB and a boom amp in the RGU so I'm just not sure what the issue might be.

I'd appreciate some clues here.

I just pulled the wiring diagram for the 2019 FLTRXSE and it shows the CB module and how it connects in.  I'm thinking that somehow the dealer has just not done one yet and since the parts compatibility guide doesn't show that model, they are saying it doesn't work.

The LAST people to ask these kinds of questions seem to be dealership employees.  Funny, but back in the day when dealers were riders and enthusiasts first and salesmen second, most places kept up with the latest information on the bikes and also could answer questions accurately on the old ones.  Now it's usually best to skip asking the parts and service guys and just go straight to the forums.

OK, ya got me on that one. ;D    But most of the time if one of us posts wrong info someone else will correct it.  The odds are still better asking people on this and other forums than asking the average dealership personnel.

I have a CB module in my 2019 CVO RG, works just like previous years.

A friend has it in his 2019 CVO SG.

Just an FYI that I can verify that the CB module works just fine in the new CVO Road Glide.  No change was really needed other than to plug it in and run the antenna cable.

However, she would like to be able to run the 7 pin wired headset.  The WHIM connection works just fine, but I'm not sure I see a place to plug in the cable for the wired connection.  The wired connection is still available on the 2019 Ultra so I'm assuming the parts are available, but I haven't found the part number yet to get a jumper cable or whatever is needed.  I have the cable from the radio to the 7 pin on the dash that came out of her 2015 RG, but no where to connect this one in ;-).
