We also had a great dinner on Saturday with 40+ people but the pictures I took didn't come out good enough to post. Too many :drink: I guess!

We rolled into Maggie Valley late Thursday evening to chilly temps.
But at Rocky Waters there was an area next to the creek to have a fire.
Good friends, chilly temps, good beverages, good food and a hot fire by the stream and we were done in on Thursday.
Got up Friday morning and it felt like 10 degree's.
The weather channel said 35 but it was cold.
TC and "Diva" were getting ready for the 9:00 ride.
We hurried to that breakfast place Otis discovered last year for a quick bite.
Got back in time to do the ride. Not sure how many were there but it was a bunch.
(I have to stop here and say O chit! that TC knows how to lead a ride)
It was an all day ride with lunch and some great roads and a trip on the "Dragon".
We got back around 5 and meet the others that had come in Friday.
The we were off to J Arthurs for our 8:00 reservation.
40 or 42 people depends on who was counting made that dinner.
Different from last year the service was great and food was fantastic.
(Brian that's where we were when the while group said hello)
Saturday we rode with T/C and Suzanne on the BRP. We followed those "Crazy rat" guys and Pete4854.
We were riding the parkway and they were going to the dragon. I saw a video later that night of a 120" Pumpkin doing some draggin on the "Dragon". That man can ride!
We got back to town that evening to have a reserved dinner at Snappy's.
There were more than 30 of us and with a few extras throw in.
Glenn from our group had talked with "Garrett" the cook at Snappys and he had a special order of prime rib for us.
It was great.
After dinner we all just hung around and had a blast talking with old and new friends.
There's lots more to come,
here's a few hints,
Where did Helen get that pumpkin?
Why were all those women in the shower with Craig?
If Otis the bike only goes 119 how did he pass the group that was going 90 like we were sitting still?
Has Pete 4854 any chrome left on the bottom of his bike?
Who da hell was driving that yellow Road Glide trike? (please don't answer that!)
How many times did AJ kick Susan?
When is Barry going to get Jessica a bike?
How can you have 95" pistons and shorter stroke and still have a 95" motor.
How long till Kenny makes it to Traxxion.
Does Henry keep that smile on his face if he dreams about the watermelon?
Who would have imagined "Peach Schnopps" would taste so good?
Does Glenn want a job as dinner organizer for Maggie Valley 08?
Did we catch Ken drinking any "Miller Chill"?
Did AJ really think that two V twins with exhaust pointed toward his room wanted him to sleep?
What about that lady that "TOOK" (not steal) that coocoobeeta ?
Does Dave really like anchovies?
Would anyone have realized that the roll on the front of Craig and Martha's V rod could hold more than a tour pak?
Did anyone else notice the smile on Henry's face as he rode his bike?
Who got to see Ken's new tattoo?
Why did TC have the white wall stripe on the bottom of his tire instead of on the side like normal people?
Where did Skippy get those teeth?
Inquiring minds want to know?

Quote from Skippy,
"MEMO: Before we left the hotel, Jackson County Police came by looking for a coocoobeeta theif....MUMS the word!
PS: Saw strange lookin yellow road glide trike and shovelhead headed to Matthews, NC at a gas station...
overhead them inquiring on how to get directions to silver-blacks residence."
We moved to Clinton Kentucky!!

OK, I'll jump in here. We took only 12 pictures. Renea and I spent most of our time trying to meet everyone........and then commit the meetings to memory. Needless to say, that effort may prove fruitless for me since I'm terrible with names anyway. But anyway, WOW did we have a BLAST. I never thought these things would be this much fun. We've been home for about two hours. Had an uneventful, easy ride home. The whole weekend seems like a dream now. Really wish we could all go back for just one more day. Anyway, here's some pix:
This is the lineup of bikes outside the bistro just off the Cherohala Skyway where we had lunch on Friday.
-
Here's a couple shots from lunch on Friday.

.
-
Here's a picture of Renea and me on the Foothills Parkway. As for the green bike, all I can say is WOW............and keep on smiling as the miles rol by effortlessly. We had a great time folks, and we're gonna do more of these CVO Harley events. For those that haven't, since this was our first, I'd highly encourage you to get to these events. You won't find a finer group of people anywhere.

Henry,
It was our first CVO event also. It was a pleasure meeting you and Renea and look forward to the next time. I am still in amazement as to how good this event was. Saying it was a "blast" falls so far short of how incredible it truly was. Great rides, new friends and truly incredible memories. And....that green bike is nothing short of awesome! Glad that you and Renea made it home safely. See you next time!

Jamey and I signed up at literally the last minute. Sure not sorry we did. Like all good things, wished it was longer, but for the time we had, we had a fantastic time. I got my oil changed on the way down to MV right at 1009 miles, and there are 1989 miles on the new engine now. For a quick weekend jaunt, not bad, all telling. We had a fantastic time. Lucky enough to hook up with Pete, Lou, Brian and Kathy for company on the way home. Fantastic riding buddies.

The WeCVO bikes at Deals Gap. Bought some trinkets and a map so were knew where we should be headed next. That is a whole nother story for nother day. But it was a great trip up and down. We heard at the shop inside that there were 8 police on the dragon, and they were writing tickets, no excuses, even one mile an hour over. We skipped it and headed out on more adventures. Great day.

Wow! What an incredible time we had. I saw a lot of cameras in action this weekend, so I'll try not to duplicate too many of the shots here. I would like to thank Terry for the great rides on Thursday and Friday. That TC can sure lead some incredible rides! Thanks to Terry for picking a great biker friendly motel that worked out great for our group. The nightly firepit gatherings and parking lot get togethers will remain great memories forever in my mind. Thanks to Dave and Helen for making arrangements for our large group at J. Arthur's, the food and company was great! Thanks Tommy for the great route back from Asheville on Saturday, I've already archived that route! Thanks to Glenn for organizing everyting for our Saturday evening dinner at Snappy's and helping out with Dave and Bob's surprise! Thanks to Snappys (Garret) for taking in our group and setting an example of how to treat a large group. Great food and great service with just about the best attitude you could ever hope for. I sure hope that Snappy's is on the agenda for 08. It was a great pleasure to meet everyone at the gathering. As it was our first event, we were a little nervous at first about meeting everyone and hoping to fit in. We were instantly welcomed by everyone and all of a sudden had so many new friends with so much in common. I do regret that we didn't have enough time to really get to know everyone as well as we would have liked, but that's the great thing about it, we'll have more opportunities to look forward to. With that being said, thanks to everyone for making our time together so special. A better time, I cannot imagine!

What a fantastic time we had in MV!!! Meeting new folks and seeing familiar faces again...well, it just cannot be beat! Everyone who's ever attended one of these GTG's knows exactly what I'm talking about...it is a MUST do!!
Ok...the white stripe SHOULD have been on the side of my tire...let me just say that I learned how to better tell when a Metzler has seen it's better days and should be changed. Actually, I was very fortunate to have made it back to the motel safely, but was able to get to a local Indy shop 3 miles down the road the next morning and get a new tire...whew!!! Thanks to everyone for the caring and support...at one point, we had a mini CVO GTG at Ken's shop :2vrolijk_21: Thanks to Glenn for letting Diva ride BSR to the shop so she could see for herself that all was well, and thanks to everyone else for all the offers for help, and especially to Nancy and Chip for allowing me and Suzanne to borrow Nancy's bike for the ride down to J Arthurs Friday night for dinner.
Everyone seemed to have a great time, the host motel did everything they could to accomodate the group, even stacking some firewood out by the creek so we could have a nice bonfire each night while we were telling lies and enjoying some beverages and smokes.
Lois, the owner of Rocky Waters, told me to tell everyone that she and her family really enjoyed having us there and we are welcome any time...great folds, IMO.
No more GTG's for a while, so time to start planning next year's agendas...
Otis...you better keep your eyes peeled for that yellow trike and keep that fine SERG behind the barn or something where nobody can see it... :2vrolijk_21: And that "stock" 95" motor sure did blow past me like I was going backards... ;) ;D
Thanks for all the pics!!!

We enjoyed meeting you and Martha as well, Craig, and please let Martha know we REALLY appreciate the name tags. It sure made things easier when trying to remember everyone. I gotta tell ya, Thumper lagged behind the V at several points during Friday's ride. You've no doubt seen a very competent tuner at the very least. ;D The V is a fast, sharp scooter. Thanks for all these wonderful pictures. We're looking forward to seeing you again.

Well, Diva, I didn't remove mine, but I did move it. Much better now. ;D

We had SO much fun, and from two folks who don't get out much, that's saying ALOT. We made some GREAT new friends, and had a wonderful time. Now.................it's back to the grinding stone, so we we can do this again soon. Thanks for a very good, wonderful and enlightening weekend, folks. You're AWESOME!!!

And, have you removed your pin from the Map?????
Good thought Suzanne!
I moving it to New York, New Hampshire or Vermount where it's starting to get cold.
That should put an end to that visit.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes and for the cake last night.
Ilene and I had a blast! It was great spending time with old friends and making new ones.
Thanks to Terry for planning and leading the rides on Thursday and Friday.
Thanks to Craig and Martha for the name badges, they really made it so much easier to remember everyone's names until we got to know each other.
Thanks to Dave and Helen for making the arrangements for dinner on Friday night.
Thanks to Glenn for arranging dinner last night.
And last but not least, thanks to everyone for making this GTG such a memorable experience. I can't wait for the next one!!

Remember Maggie Valley September 08!
Be there!

Again, Cheri and I had a blast. Thanks to everyone who helped organize this event. What some awesome rides Terry! I could retire and move to that area some day! Wow.
Met some new friends, and caught up with some old ones! My butt is dragging! But, I promised my buddy Barry I'd post these next pictures. What else are friends for?
-
Na, I can't do it.

Just proving that the CVO ladies look as good going as they do coming.
Well said Ken! It sure was nice meeting you two

But, here's a great shot of AJ and sassy. Sassy, I really didn't beleive you were real! I thought AJ was making you up. It was great to meet you.

And here's a good picture of my lovely wife, Barry, and Jessica.

Again, thanks to everyone that took and posted pictures. As a 1st time attender, I'll put in my 2 cents (no particular order).
Weather-Other than it could have been another 10-15 degrees warmer, the blue no cloud skies couldn't have been better.
Motel-It was all you could ask for and Lois was a great host.
Lady riders-Nancy, Candy and Kathy were as good as the guys and made me look bad.
Food-Dave and Helen did great in picking J Arthurs and Terry made good choices for the rides. Wasn't there for Glenn's get together on Saturday night.
Rides-Terry again did great at planning and leading the rides even though they were at warp speed. Thanks to AJ for staying with me as long as he could on Friday as the pack got away.
Area-MV and the Smokey Mountains are a pretty area to see/ride. Before this site, all I knew was Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge.
People-I am sorry to say I only met about 75% of the people there, they were all 1st class and were easy to talk to. I wish I could bottle Candy's smile and laughter.
Bikes-We talk about them on the website but seeing and hearing them in person is not the same. All the bikes were nice but I was partial to the pumpkins of Dave's and Pete's..
Thanks for having me, Bob

Ok, Cheri, Jessica, Barry and myself stopped for a "beer-nic" on the way back from our ride Saturday to Clingom's Dome. for those of you not from Kentucky, a beer-nic is sorta like a picnic, but there's no food, just beer. We all sat on the ground in this little grassy area to relax. Soon Jessica was saying---Ewwwwwwwwwwwww daddy what did you sit in???
And being the good friend that I am, I grabbed the camera.

Still waiting on answers to the questions below,
Where did Helen get that pumpkin?
We are waiting?

I don't know what to more can be said about what a great, fantastic and AWESOME time we had! It was fantastic catching up with people we had met before and a blast meeting some newbies!! A nicer, friendlier and FUN group you just can't find like our CVO family!
Thanks to everyone for making this trip everything you could hope for and more!
Many thanks to Craig and Martha for our name tags! Not only did it help with the new faces it made us recognizable to each other if we hadn't met yet! Ken and mine are safely stowed to bring next time! If I didn't know better I would think ya'll were GTG veterans the way you fit in ;) GREAT to meet ya (sure do love that stylin' yellow bike!!) Didn't I tell ya it was addicting??? :huepfenlol2:
Terry, the rides were just.... what's better than fantabulistical?? Thanks for taking the point and showing us BSR's some wonderful views and sweet riding!
Henry and Renea it was so much fun hanging out with you and getting to see another beautiful watermelon! (for the record I woke up cussing too! :P )
I love all the pics and am wishing we were all still in MV playing and having such a great time!
AJ!! It was unreal actually meeting Sassy since I wasn't sure she existed! 8) As always great to see you and now Sassy and I have matching necklaces :D
Good times, great people and SOO much fun! Thanks to each and every one of ya'll for making the trip and making our time together a blast!

Chief...the only glitches in that file are a few where it wants you to get off the road, then get back on, but all of those are on the 4 lane, so just ignore them. Everything else is spot on. It's a FULL day though...we started at 9 and got back to MV a little after 5pm, and I was pushing (or pulling, depending on how you look at it) everyone a bit on the speeds. We stopped a few times as well...it's a full 8 - 9 hour ride though...about 270 miles of mostly twisties.
I have that problem when mapping on Mapsource using via or waypoints...it is sometimes very hard to pinpoint the road, so it will take you off at an exit, then right back on. I've learned to ignore the GPS induced U-Turns, etc.
I've also found the GPS to be confusing when coming to a fork in the road...just ask Chip and Nancy.... :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Me too. It took several unscheduled U-Turns with a group before I started paying attention to the time to turn indicator, not just the fact that the pop-up appeared. Those U-Turns are a great opportunity to see how well you take a rash of chit from the rest of the gang. ;D

We didn't give T/C any hassel.
But that was at the end of the day and we were all tired.
Beginning of the day might have been different.
Besides after the 80 to 90 mph ride with him the day before and his custom white stripped tire we were just glad he was here to be followed.
Besides it was a challenge to keep from running over him!
And we like a challenge.

Who would want to give him any hassel anyway? That road was so nice and the pace was awesome. Why look for a turn off to another road? So what if we missed that turn? Great ride. Glad that Terry's tire held. Screwed up GPS turns or not, Terry can lead anytime!

Oh, Barry and I blasted up to 110 MPH just as we were getting into Paducah yesterday. We stopped and said our "see ya laters" and I cranked up to head on. I noticed a little sound like maybe an exhaust leak. I was too tired to even look at it till today. No nuts at all on the flange of the rear exhaust pipe. It's backed away a good inch. I rectum 110 is just too fast for these 110's.

I noticed a little sound like maybe an exhaust leak. I was too tired to even look at it till today. No nuts at all on the flange of the rear exhaust pipe. It's backed away a good inch. I rectum 110 is just too fast for these 110's.
maybe you shoulda shifted up to fourth gear? :nixweiss:

OK, my turn to post some pix. All credit goes to Sassy for taking (most) of the pix.
I want to add my thanks to everyone involved in this great weekend. Getting to meet some of you for the first time was a real pleasure. As most of you know I am usually online in the middle of the night. One of the others online in the wee hours of the day is a lovely lady I have never meet until this weekend. When she first saw my, Candy came right up and gave me a big hug and introduced herself! Getting to meet everyone was a great privliage! A special thank you goes out to Martha for making name tags for everyone! I'm so glad to have meet you & Craig even though he has been hanging around Chip too long & picking up his bad habit of idling engines at the crack of dawn ;D. TC planned some great twisty rides. Chief, you would have been proud of me. Even Hogbreath had a hard time keeping up w/ me in the 'hills'.

AJ,
Great pics AJ and Sassy. Like Henry said, thanks. Henry, I share your pain on this one. Have you found a remedy yet? If you do, make sure you share it with the group! Maybe a CVO winter ride to a warm weather destination is in order! Thanks again AJ and Susan, we sure enjoyed the time we were able to spend with you guys and everyone else!

Craig, It is helpful to know I'm not the only one who REALLY misses the wonderful experiences we all shared this past weekend. The only cure of which I'm aware is to feed the need. Unfortunately, in order to mobilize the capability to feed the need, we gotta work to earn the means. I know......sorta obvious ain't it? ;D Anyway, it's really tough trying to get into work this morning. Apprarently Renea and I need to get out more often. I agree with Nancy.........let me know if you need help. :2vrolijk_21: :D
We really miss you guys.

Unfortunately, I'm fully pressurized and wound up like a clock spring again....
Need to find a better way to work. ;D

OK, this is the wrong topic I'm sure, but, I see no need to start a new thread.
As I stated, I lost my nuts this past sunday. What thread are the nuts that hold the exhaust on? I glanced at it, and it looked to be 5/16". I have a bucket full of 5/16" bolts as those are used on my job. It seemed to be the right diameter but wouldn't start. Are they fine threads or metric?
I didn't have the time to really look close at lunch break today.

Ken...I think that's even courser than normal...most are 20 per inch. For some reason, most exhaust studs I've ever seen are courser threads, maybe to keep them from gunkin' up so easy?
Might have to go somewhere special to get new nuts...is there an industrial nut store near Clinton? A big man with big guns needs industrial strength nuts...
-

Dang Terry, I was just gonna argue with you. SO, I did a google on National Course thread. A 5/16" NC thread is 16 TPI. Dang, you're right. Remind me never to doubt you.
Either that or chip's guy is wrong. Makes sense tho---the 5/16" NC nut I had would NOT start. Harley shop is only 25 miles away.
-
Well, Called my dealer parts man. he says it's 5/16" -24, but it's an odd thread. He tried to explain it to me, called it like an obround thread? Supposed to act as a lock nut. Can't get them anywhere else cept HD I'd guess. Well--the locking part didn't work too well eh?
-

Well, so we're all screwed up...best make a trip to the HD shop to be sure, unless you can easily remove one of the studs without damaging it.
Guess the tech who did your gasket didn't get it tight enough...that's another reason I like the thinner gaskets, as it forces you to get things good and tight or it will leak at the exhaust gasket and you can hear it. Still want to just get them tight enough though....don't be breakin' that stud off in the head or you'll do some serious cussin'

I got both my nuts, plus two spares. $0.43 ea. I started to ask for warranty but didn't want the hassle. These are 5/16"-24 flange style nuts but they're slightly oval. Evidently the oval part is what is supposed to make it lock on like a lock nut. I know, I'm nuts.

Well I am going to post some pictures Sorry I haven't really felt like posting but we sure had a great time. The first pics will be of the campground we stayed at in Tellico Plains It was really nice.

If I remember correctly from the pics there was also a lot of the pumpkin SEEGs represented. I wasn't there, but maybe someone by the known nick name of "Buttercup" might remember, as there were there.

A member who was at the '04, 05, 06 and just missed this last one - is "Buttercup" They know who they are. I was hoping they'd stand up and admit their nick name before I had to "out" them. There were not that many people at the '04 event, it can't be hard to figure out. Tommy is the only one, that I am aware of, that has been to each and every one.

We'll miss you guys, Kathy!!
We'll miss you guys too. I'm not sure I will miss the 20 degree weather though. That is a little too cold for me.

Roy,
Glad to hear that you are feeling better! So sorry that you had to miss Maggie Valley. Get better, follow the doc's orders and hopefully we will get a chance to meet you at the next one.
Maybe, you'd feel even better if we could get Glenn to start posting some of those pictures he took on the trip!
Take care and continue the healing process!

OK, are you ready for my over 3000+ photos from riding with Duane for 12 days and 12 nights of which 4 days and 4 long nights in MV with all you wild and wonderful CVO'ers. :orange: Well, all right I will only do the 300+, don't worry I will only do about 30, from the best part of our journey at MV. It all starts with the cool refreshing air and mountain roads when you are Welcomed into NC, especially after riding in the fumie or fueling (lots of jets) air of NJ. :huepfenjump3:
I have kept the photos in their unadulterated format, blurs and all, for the reality and fun of the rides. The Names to match The People -Well, Who is Really Who... Some names seemed to be real and some maybe not so real, but I do believe your names did match your CVO personalities or was it your Bikes. :) AJ, Sassy, Chip, Porthole, Boatman, Otis, Diva, Mikey, Bindixie, Hard10, Punkin, Getinold, Lilbear, Reggab, SilverBlack, Hogbreath, Hogasm and so many more strange names like Ozzie. What a Blastism and a great time with great riding Friends. Let the photo memories live on.
-
Duane lead the way into Maggie Valley, of course we took the long way from the South end and along the Cherahala Skyway
-
When Duane was looking at the Forest map, I was not sure if he was lost or just looking for the short cut thru the woods.
-
Cherohala Skyway is beautiful this time of the year
-
Here we go to Maggie Valley by way of Skyway
-
Sometimes we would stop for some fuel.
-
I think we make into Maggie Valley Wednesday Night.
-
And this is where we slept the first night at Maggie Valley...on the lawn with our bed already made and decorated with lots of flowers.
-
Yes, The Seven Dwarfs were really there or at least in my dreams.
-
This is what we woke up to see...notice the old and orginal made moonshine still. Duane knows the guy and maybe some of you do too.
-
Here is all my new CVO friends at MV...they are all resting peacefully after a long day of great mountainous curvy riding.
-
Here is eveyone getting ready to ride from the MV - The Rock Hotel after a good night of rest.
-
Of course some one is always calling before the day's ride begin, the question is? who really is that person, wife, friend, lover, boss or all of the above?
-
Some people try to hide...can you guest who?
-
Now here are some nice people looking happy to go riding in MV... You meet the nicer CVO'ers in Maggie Valley
-
Are you ready to go yet? Is the Sun shining.
-
OK we are ready to ride somewhere :coolblue:
-
It looks like these bikers spent the night together :o
-
I believe he was a 'newbie" like me. A good rider who i followed for awhile until Duane decided to go down another road... which is when we saw great things.
-
Great things to see.
-
Now which CVO is mine?
-
Craig and Martha - what strange names for this lovely couple riding a beautiful VROD...mine kind of bike, short, power and flies like the screaming eagle
-
I just love curves :)
-
Where did the road go 8)
-
I just came down that road...you are looking backwards 8)
-
Stop to look at Mother Nature
-
Had to take a shower at that view ;D
-
The water is fine come on in ;)
-
I sure hope this road turns because HDSE's don't have air bags or parachutes.
-
A real covered bridge, not many remaing let alone in working condition.
-
The BlueRidge Skyline, to me was like being on top of NC
-
The weather was at its finest. i could not believe the views :bananarock:
-
There is our road, down there
-
I think this sign covers most of our route distinations
-
I think - Dave, Chip, Mikey, Mikey, Duane is in parts.
-
The Stoney Brook Motel night fire camp out
-
Duane and I decided to bring a friend along for the ride
-
This "maybe" Chip and Otis the morning after saturday night?
-
This definitely was the morning after ???
-
Then came lunch time
-
Then a coffee break :drink:
-
So here we are somewhere, I surely do not know or even care for this road is fun. :2vrolijk_21:
-
Distance yet close NC style "kissin" cousins
-
Three of a kind ;) Dave, Helen, Duane = Screaming Eagles
-
First of several Blueridge viewing stops
-
This is what we woke up to see...notice the old and orginal made moonshine still. Duane knows the guy and maybe some of you do too.
"Popcorn Sutton"

A Daughter who Loves to Ride with her Father, very cool :bananarock:

When Duane was looking at the Forest map, I was not sure if he was lost or just looking for the short cut thru the woods.
Wouldn't be the first time I left the asphalt for the dusty trail.
-
Everyone took a walk into the woods
-
I hope Duane still likes me after me photos of him and fun comments...what a great riding friend
-
Who are those "masked Screaming Eagles? :-X
-
Now these are fast moving SEs
-
yes you, come ride with us CVO'ers :pumpkin:
-
Entering close to Gatlinburg
-
Enjoying the great company on the ride and/or "love at first sight"
-

Bubba,
Great pics thanks for sharing. :2vrolijk_21: Tell WoW MoM that was just a glitch in the GPS from going thru those many tunnels and loosing the GPS signal then picking it up on the other side. We all know you wouldn't drive that fast. ;)

Gary...tire didn't look like that...all that happened in the last 50 miles or less down the 4 lane. Prior to that, it looked like it was wearing down fast, but no idea it would go that fast!! Lesson learned...the tire was also not flat. Caring people were discouraging me from riding it to get it changed the next morning, but I found a good place, thanks to Brian (Hogasm), just three miles straight down thru MV, all on straight road.

I can understand now after seeing it how it freaked Chip out when he saw it. I'm sure it tightened your sphincter when you saw it to. Just thinking about all the bad things that could have happened you were definitely lucky. I can only imagine how long those three miles to the shop to repair it must have been. :nervous: I know you took your time and were cautious, but I've never experienced a blow out on a motorcycle yet and hope I never do.

Besides, ya'll would really be jealous of the Screaming Eagle mobile that hangs over Ken's side of the bed!! :P
Hey, who do I have to talk to for first right of refusal for the pics posted on here?? I KNOW it's not that I'm seriously unphotogenic....it's GOTTA be the photographer?? *fingers crossed that someone buys that* :P
Great pics Bubba!! And Glenn/gosbois/ozzie...great job on the pics, and I'm thinking "my dad" loves em too!!! HAHAHAHA

Bubba,
Thanks for posting some of your pictures. They look great to me. It is really neat to see everyone's different perspective in photos. And, by the way, tell Mom not to worry, Bubb Jr. was watching over the entire group, Bubba included! It was sure great meeting you. Martha and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Keep well and keep Bubba Jr. on the job,

Here we go, some of my pics from MV 2007. As many of you know, Glenn and I took 4 days to get there and 4 days to get home. Pics from the before and after will be in another thread.
Many of the pics I have are only slightly different then what has been posted already, so I'm putting up some of my favorites.
Welcome to some of the best motorcycle riding roads on the east coast.
.
-
On one of the group rides we were a bit behind and I missed the exit (on the way to the Highlands) due to traffic. So we ended up missing most of the ride to the BBQ, we did find our way to the Highlands though, and had a great lunch at a several hundred year old Inn.
.
-
One of the many dams we passed, this was after leaving the Highlands city limits
-
I am only posting this picture, which looks like so many of my mountain pics, to show show some of the "other half" lives.
Look in the center of this pic, the next picture is a zoomed in shot.
.
-
This is the center of the above shot. This was on the way out of the Highlands, I think heading towards 64, which was a great road.
.
-
Another dam.
.
-
Bridal Veil Falls, similar to many of the 2000 plus Carolina waterfalls, very little water flowing.
These are the Falls the you can drive under.
.
-
One of four foot suspension bridges we passed, and all are in suprisngly good shape.
.
-
Heading back into MV.
.
-
On the next day we again got separated from the group as they were heading to the Skyway I believe. So, I took Glenn on a little scenic ride to Fontana Dam.
The Fontana Lake / reservoir is extremely low. Normally this time of year it is intentionally lowered by about 50 in anticipation of the spring thaw. But this year the level is already close to 90 feet below normal!
.
-
Heading over the top of the dam we had a Bald Eagle fly out of the woods right towards us. Stopping in the middle of the road and jumping off the bike to get my camera, secured in the saddlebag, caused me some delay in getting pictures. This is only the third time I have ever seen a Bald Eagle in person and it is a real thrill for me.
The Eagle flew in circles above us, checking out our Screamin' Eagles for a good 10-15 minutes. I think he approved as he dipped his wings before leaving.
.
-
This is the rock face as you approach the the dam's lower level on Rt 28 (aka the "Hellbender"). This is a really neat formation and is a great place to take pictures different times of the day with the sun doing it's artwork on the rocks.
.
-
.
-
For years I passed this Hydro station and never stopped to take pictures, We stopped a lot on this trip.
The pipes feeding the station (coming down from the top of the hill) I have passed under or over dozens of times on my adventures off the main roads. I do have pictires from last years trip when I found the back way to that side of the river.
.
-
.
-
After riding the Hellbender and the Dragon we stopped for pictures at the "top" of the Dragon. The Dragon does not stop start at the Calderwood Dam overlook, the beginning is about 2 miles farther into Tennessee.
When we stopped, on Highway 129 both of our Speedometers showed ......
.
-
Pure coincidence.
.
-
Another dam on 129.
.
-
Not far from the above picture is another Dragon paraphernalia store we stopped at, had a pop, bought some trinkets and then Gettinold Dave and Helen popped up. It is amazing how we run into different people along the roads down here.
Dave had decided to not ride the Dragon so we teamed up for a different ride home (Glenn and I planned to run back down the tail).
Shortly after Dave showed up, Barry and Jessica, Henry and Renae, I think Bob and Ilene and I don't remeber if Craig and Martha were there too.
Below has to be the most photographed pair on the trip.
.
-
Henry & Renae, did I spell that right?
.
-
Helen & Dave
.
-
Myself & Glenn
.
-
Did I mention we took a lot of pictures on this trip, especially Glenn.
.
-
Coming over the Great Smoky Mountains on 441 we stopped here for a leg stretch.
.
-
Did I mention we took a lot of pictures on this trip, especially Glenn.
.
That's good. Ya'll did good w/ the pics and really captured some nice memories. :2vrolijk_21: har! :drink: spyder
-
Another stop we didn't line the bikes up for a picture.
.
-
OK, the group is not getting away from us this day - I'm taking someone else's bike, that way they'll have to let us keep up!
This is Gettinold parking my bike for a pictures at the BRP's highest elevation overlook.
Dave wasn't sure about a noise his bike was making so he and Helen rode my bike and I got to ride the SE V-Rod, nice.....
I think he looks good on a Red bike, no?
.
-
Glenn
.
-
I haven't a clue as to why we actually lined up the bikes for a picture and we put the Big Bikes in front of the V-Rods.
.
-
Helen and Martha on the awesome V's
By the way where is "V" on this trip?
.
-
My last MV picture.
After we rode the BRP we headed over to Asheville HD and then to Hooter's for lunch. Had an awesome ride back on a 29 mile long "Dragon", led by Tommy. We actually met up with a few more of the CVOers this time instead of getting left back.
This is a mid point stop for gas and Dave wanted to ride the V-Rod a bit.
What a bunch of Jesters lined up, and I ain't talking about bikes :huepfenjump3:
.

Last night at dinner with Glenn, Howie (Hoist) and Henry (Reggab) the discussion centered around what a great place the CVO group is and how we all seem to just get along like we have known each other for years.
It is so true and wait till you get to meet the rest of the regulars. Of course it was a real treat meeting you and Martha this year too. Maybe us upper east coasters should plan a mini GTG at the beach in NC, There is some one we all know who lives nearby :2vrolijk_21:
-
Duane, Just plain AWSOME!! It kinda sucks that we had to go back to work on Monday....you did the trip right taking your time and looks like you and Glen had a lot of fun...
Again thanks for sharing,
~bubba~
-
AWESOME pictures, Duane, and thank you so much for sharing. It was good to see you and Glenn again last night in Avenel, as well as finally meet Howie. I think we need to do a GTG on the Jersey Shore next "summa." ;D That would be cool! Renea and I would love to see you guys in North Georgia next month! Come on down! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Great pics and commentary Duane!! Love that eagle pic. Am I the only one that gets tears in their eyes full of patriotic pride when I see that??
Kinda helps with the MV withdrawals. Well, that and the imminent trip to N. GA *YAY*
-
Just scanned through all the pics and most the captions and stories here. Sorry I missed it. Obviously a great time for everyone. So glad all that made it in did so and enjoyed themselves so much. Thanks again for taking the time to share the imagery and the stories. Really appreciated :2vrolijk_21: .

Won't happen Henry, I just shipped my wife off to London this morning for a visit with my daughter and her future family. I may go over next month. We planned separate trips because of our animals, we do rescue work with the NJ Golden Retriever group. When we made these plans we had a foster dog and didn't know how long we would have him (almost didn't go :-\) 2 dogs my neighbors can handle, 2 and a strange dog is asking a bit much.
I am trying to convince my future son in law that it could be in his best interest to get me tickets for the Led Zeppelin reunion coming up in the UK :nixweiss:
If he comes through I'm going :huepfenjump3:
-
Am I the only one that gets tears in their eyes full of patriotic pride when I see that??
No way Cheri, the National Anthem does it for me!
Most emotional - right after 9-11, there was an event at Yankee stadium, during the National Anthem, which was already emotional due to the events, a Bald Eagle was released that flew down from the top of the stadium to a handler. If that whole scene didn't choke one up; ya ain't' got red, white and blue coursing through your veins!
And to top it off, Bette Midler did an awesome version of her song, Wind Beneath My Wings, that she barely finished, I got to tell you, wasn't a dry eye in the firehouse.
-

No worries Duane. I can't even sing along and make it through the whole thing without tears running down my face. I'm an Air Force brat and have heard it more often than most probably. I bleed red white and blue!
That pic reminds me of this great nation and the branch my dad served in I guess. Just beautiful!

It's weird the things that affect us. The anthem itself for me, not so much. That thing they used to do at the end of the broadcast days when TV stations used to actually sign off, however, would always cause a little hitch. And of all the things to make a guy tear up a little; remember the goofy movie "Independence Day?" Where the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and a mensch fight aliens that look like a Victory Vision touring bike while the heros win the girl's hearts? The President's version of the St. Crispin's day speech before the final battle.... gets me every time.
-
