2015 CVO RG handlebar swap?
« on: December 30, 2015, 11:34:44 AM »

I'm wanting to put taller bars on my 15, so I bout a set 12" chubbies. I didn't realize the CVO required a true 1+1/4" bar at the mount and the wire exit hole must be facing forward rather than down. Does anyone know where I can find vars that will work?

Wild1 makes their own handlebar clamp that replaces your stock clamp so you can use their 1" bar for 2015 models.  I know it's a pain to change over, but otherwise you are stuck with getting new bars.  Check out their website, I believe the clamp is about $100 which is cheaper than buying new bars.

the adapter from wild 1 is probably your best bet.  it is only $59.95  http://www.wild1inc.com/accessories.html#adapters  or you can buy new risers and swap them out, they run about $25.00 each, plus the top clamp which runs about $40.

the other part of your question though, how much off is the wiring hole in the bars?  is there enough clearance at the riser to route the wiring?

A full size 1.25 bar and clamp offers much more strength and resistance against unwanted movement. This is a 940 lb motorcycle and you are adding taller bars with more leverage. I'd just bite the bullet and buy the bars that are designed for the bike.

In went with the Factory 47, 14" bars designed for the 15 road glide.  I have been very happy with them, they are really closer to 13" than 14 though.  Able to use factory clutch and brake lines.

The factory bars has the exit hole almost parallel to the ground, where the wild bars are more perpendicular to the ground.

Thank you Dave it was because of you and this forum i got these beautiful Factory 47 14" bars. and because we don't need to change cables so we can save a lot of money. I am 5.9" so for me 14" is quite comfortable. and the bars are wider than stock bars which gives you a good feeling while riding.

You're welcome.  Glad you like them.  I really like those bars, they are comfortable for back to back 750 mile days.
