Need info on changing bars
« on: April 19, 2012, 09:25:20 PM »

Thinking about changing my bars for something a little more comfortable/ read taller, my question is how high can I go without changing everything? Also do I have to buy a new throttle by wire assy? Looking for something like 12" apes or ???

Read a few of the posts about 12" Wild Ones, Monkey Bars, etc... all say that everything reaches (just barely) but no one has said anything about the throttle grip sensor being replaced or reused.

I just installed the Harley pullbacks and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. The first stab took quite a bit of time to sort it out without much guidance, but it's pretty straight forward if you take your time. Just make sure you take plenty of pictures of the connectors and wire locations before taking them apart!

Got that right!    Good luck on salvaging anything, including your sanity when it comes to Monkey bar install.    I'm kidding, kinda.  The pull is brutal and forums all over the internet prove it,  but it can be done.   I wish you luck!

Thanks for the intel guys, probably gonna go with a more conventional look than Monkey Bars or similar because its an Ultra, if it was a custom the monkeys would look better IMO, anyway, I shouldn't have to much trouble pulling the wires down a conventional ape bar just wanted to confirm that 12"s wouldn't need a bunch of new stuff and that i could reuse the twist grip
