Well with gear drive cams, S&S with their new style gears says .006". I've done chain drive engines at .006" with NO adverse affects. (Customer OK
request).

under .003 is what we like to see, .0045 max, .006 up and your looking at oil pump problems

well,if their trued they should be pretty close to 0 (weather they stay at 0 is another thing),only welding really isn't going to stop them from moving, they have to be plugged

Welding will stop them from moving until they move. hahaha
Last one we got from Hoban had under .001".

If you're already pushing .006, I'd get it fixed while everything
is still in tact. You'll have problems eventually.

I just put a S&S crank in my recent 117 build. Runout was .0005 checked in a lathe. This is the smoothest running harley motor I have ever built and the only one I ever changed the crank in for a build. I realize now what I missed on all those other builds.
