Yep, mine worked for a while, then stopped working.  Kind of like my cruise control :(

If you are using the TTS and it doesn't work anymore then lower your Primary Ratio figure (found in your constants table) a few points until the light comes back on. I had to drop from 1.353 to 1.330 to get our ConV 6th gear light to work. I got that info from TTS. It worked.

During daylight it is very dim.  I didn't think mine was working when I was first checking everything out on delivery.

Amazing how Harley rider's managed to survive for 100 years without an idiot light to tell them they were in top gear.  I still wonder why H-D even thought to add this, unless perhaps they had a pile of leftover light bulbs they wanted to use up.  Too bad they didn't spend a couple more bucks to do the thing right.

A proper system would have been a nice little LCD window that would indicate each gear with a numeral and neutral with a big N.  I seem to remember having that on a 1982 Honda.  Not only could you tell if you were in top gear, you could tell if you were in third, first,or whatever.   [ 1-N-2-3-4-5 ]    Like all such whiz-bang features, it didn't hold my attention past the first month or so.  Once I got used to the feel of the bike under various conditions, I could pretty much tell what gear I was in from the speed versus rpm relationship.

If in doubt, pull up on the shift lever.  If nothing happens, you're in 6th.

I agree... How did we ever manage without an idiot light? Yeah right!

From my seat there is way too many lights (including the low fuel light)... Going by your milage has always been the safest bet.

I wish they would clean up the dash and get back to basics - just ride!

Do the basics include or EXclude  -----   stereo, c.b., intercom, CD player, XM, heated seats, heated grips, fuel gauge, cruise control, hydraulic clutch, 6-speed, neutral indicator, abs brakes, etc.  My uncle owned an early 40s Harley that he pushed more than he rode, but as I remember  ----   those were bare basic bikes.    :orange: :orange:

Wait just a minute now... I never mentioned anything about "bare basics"!  :o

And with class & style I forgot to mention comfort.  Naturally I appreciate having music so the stereo (especially XM) is great to have, rarely use the CB, never use the intercom, the heated grips and seat is a nice touch for us in the north, but I never depend on the fuel gauge - can't even remember the last time I looked at it.

I just feel sometimes they clutter up the gauges and dash too much with useless things such as the ampient air temp, 6 speed notification, blue tooth, GPS, etc.

I guess it's simply a case of "to each their own" and those who want to use all that stuff, it's there for you and those who want other things such as oil temp or compass directions, - well we'll just have to spend more money to make it our own.  :2vrolijk_21:

There is definately a method to their madness!

I agree Mr Ed appears to have a very cushy ride there..........A swingin' back door like that is hard to beat :2vrolijk_21:

I also agree about the gear lite,  I have for yrs wished they had the whole digital readout as mentioned earlier.  I would add to the "wish list" though to include as (standard equipment),  the letter "R" to that digital readout.

In other words, a damn Harley that weighs over 850 pounds (before) you even get on it and costs as much as it does when we're talkin' CVO...............ought to have a REVERSE GEAR >:(

I think the current CUSE is over 900 pounds, and if you combine that kind of weight and short legs, backing out of a parking space can be a real adventure.  It gets to be even more fun when the parking space is slightly uphill on the way out, and has lots of sand or tiny bits of gravel lying around.  I've learned to try to avoid those kinds of spaces, or find a wide enough spot I can swing around and park facing out.

I watched a fella back his Gold Wing out of a space last week, and damn near fell asleep waiting for him to complete the maneuver.  The electric reverse isn't the answer, as it only has one speed (really really slow).
