Title: SE Dyna DYNO Runs - Post Here
Post by: Shodan01 on January 30, 2007, 10:36:08 AM
I dont know exactly where to post this, but I am sure it will get where it needs.  My wife had har Dyna tuned with Rinehart 2 into 1 pipes, Zippers Breather and got some wild results.

90 HP and 108 ft/lbs of torque.

This was one of the furst tunes in my area, so I would appreciate any feedback.

Steve

Something doesn't look right to me - shouldn't torque and hp cross at 5252 rpm?

You're right that is normally the case. That is strange. :confused5:

Yes! I've been waiting on someone else to notice that too.

The lines don't cross at 5252 because the hp and tq scales are different.  See how the numbers on the left don't match the one's on the right?

You are correct but why would it print up in a nonstandard format?  :nixweiss:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Below is a copy of a post on V-Twin Forum made by "TroyL" from Orange County CA on 2-22-07. Troy owns a 2007 FXDSE and he loaned his bike to Vance & Hines so that they could test the new Big Radius 2 into 1 pipe on a SE Dyna 110 cid bike. Here is what he said:

"I held in my hands today a Big Radius 2-1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did the tour today at the Santa Fe Springs Street shop. It's actually a huge manufacturing complex with everything! Really great people!

Anyways, the pipe is awesome. We're walking by one area and the gal giving the tour points something or another to the left side as we walk by. I spotted one on a table in front of some office, so I scooted over there. It was the prototype they used for all the publicity. There weren't any header heat shields so I could still see the welds they left and there was a falsie baffle in, but it was HUGE! I haven't seen a Fatcat but this one looks bigger than the pics.

So, we get to the dyno room. They had just finished with my bike, so I didn't get to see it on the dyno, but I did get a chance to talk to two of the wrenches running the dyno. I've got a bunch of info, but the relevent stuff for this thread is:

BR 2-2 106ft/lbs and 93HP big low end flat spot
BR 2-1 110ft/lbs and 96HP perfect
2-1 Pro 109ft/lbs and 97HP very small low end flat spot
Python 2-1 (no baffle) 109ft/lbs and 96HP very small low end flat spot

They did these pipes with the appropriate FuelPak setting, all on my bike. They also verified that the BR 2-1 is quieter than the 2-1 Pro (by 1db)."

Excellent tune dude! Look how the 255 cams fall down like lead at 4500. That thing will fly all the way up with the right cams! ;) Hoist! 8)

That's one of the best tunes for a stock engine I've seen. Enjoy it man! :2vrolijk_21: Hoist! 8)

Okay... finally got the bike in for a dyno run.
'07 FXDSE stock engine w/Rush slip-ons (2.25" baffles)
94.76 HP and 106.82 ft. lbs torque (tech said that numbers would be appx. +5 higher if ambient temp. was in the 70 - 75 degree range instead of the 100 degree temp we had today.)

BR 2-1 110ft/lbs and 96HP perfect

They did these pipes with the appropriate FuelPak setting, all on my bike.

I just asked V&H if they had the Fuel pack updated for the Big Radius 2-1 and they said "NO NOT YET".

After 2 months of waiting mine just arrived, will mount this weekend. Still not sure what system I will use to alter the tune AFR.

I have tried to change my scan into a JPEG but am unable to. Dyno with 2-2 pythons and race pack. Did not mess with tuning, just checked to make sure air/fuel was ok. Want to change cams over winter and will tune then. 91.2hp 102.57 tq

Hope this is clearer. Still have vibration issue, new motor mounts, new motor, new exhaust. I can hold RPM steady and it smooths out. But during excelleration is noticable all the way up RPM range. Any ideas ?

Any suggestions as to what cams would be a good choice to change to? Pythons and a SERT.

sblade,

What mod's did you make to get those numbers? Am I seeing them correctly? That's an awesome looking set of numbers...

They're correct. CNC Heads,113CI. 264 Cams, 50MM TB.V&H 2-1 Big Radius pipes. Can be a wild ride. Hope it all stays together.

08 fxdse2
r&r cycles stage 4 heads (sold the stock ones)
10.7 compression
se257 cams
se air cleaner
supertrapp 2 into 1 exhaust
power commander

put more discs in the supertrapp since this dyno, probably gained some power above 4500 rpm

I just had my 08 SE Dyna dynoed at Reno Harley.

My bike has old style screamin eagle 2 mufflers and no other mods. It pulled 99hp and 119ftlbs on a super flow dyno. And this was with full street trim (air cleaner in place) brake caliper on rotor)

I will post a picture of the runs as soon as I can.

same build as earlier in this thread except we added a horsepower incorporated 55mm throttle body, screamin' eagle injectors, 7 more discs in muffler, and a wood 3.25" aircleaner

Hi all!  I am a bit concerned.  Just had the SERT added to my 08 CVO Dyna.  K&N filter, and Rush Slip On Exhaust.

HP = 91.31
Torque = 105.25

This seems much lower than the others listed on this site. Thoughts???

looks fine to me...prolly just an honest dyno

It is right in line with mine. I know my scoot runs about the same as a coworker's bike who's bike made 110hp and 113qt on another Dino. A Dino should really only be used as a reference from stock and to gage add ons and tuning. Everyone likes to have the big numbers on the dial but the real proof in the puddin would be at a time elapsed track such as drag strip. Weight with elapsed time = how much pony is really getting to the ground. So if it feels fast then it is fast, right?? After all these really are not race machines.  Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Those are very good numbers considering you haven't done any engine mods. If you look in the twin cam thread, there are alot of recommendations for different types of modifications. It just depends upon what you want to get out of the bike...it can get expensive, and results will vary. If you are looking for greatly improved numbers, the easiest route would be to buy a Jims 120 or 131.

For myself, I am going to change cams & rods, jugs, pistons, throttle body, oil pump & see where my #'s are.

personally like the 110 motor...I added heads, cams, t/body, injectors, power commander, exhaust, air cleaner, paid someone to do the labor...$4k got me 115hp/115tq on a stingy dyno

Just had a dyno tune done on my FXDSE2 after 500 miles.  I added a SE Heavy Breather, SE Race Tuner, and V&H Short Shot Exhaust and it pulled 91 HP and 112 Ft pounds torque.  The Dyno tuning also eliminated the occasional exhaust popping I was experienceing on deceleration and the motor is definitely running cooler now. Don't know why you have to invest over $1K to make the bike perform the way it should but it sure runs and sounds good now...

While the bike was in for the head gasket upgrade, recall etc. I got some mods done including Woods cams, heads decked and ported and changed pipes from VH Big Radius 2/2 to D&D FATCAT 2into1 Big Bore with quiet baffle. Also got the heads Diamond Cut which looks awesome in my opinion. Here is the dyno run. Went from 92HP/108TQ before mods to 122HP and 125TQ. Can't wait for better weather as it has been nothing but snow here in Maryland and more forcasted on the way this week. Come on Spring, I'm dying to ride this bike with the new motor mods. :coolblue: Ride on   Dave
