I was just looking the RDRS online. The question is; anybody know if you know if you can retrofit this to pre-2020 Rushmore bikes?

I would be interested in doing this retrofit also.    Please keep this thread updated with what you learn
Thanks

If it is even possible, I can't wait to hear what it would cost :nervous:

Can't help but be curious MJ.  Without even knowing how many and location of all sensors, modules, and other unknown (to me) bits that are involved not even a clue how involved such a retrofit would be.  With enough time, money, and fabrication skill suppose that anything is possible.  First reaction is that this one is daunting though.

My Marelli 2000 Road Glide is all Delphi and has been for a long time now.  That was an easy swap.  Took another 2000 up a step further using all the guts from an 08 wrecked donor and it went to Delphi with ABS.  That one took an earlier fuel pump and float assy, a little fab at the rear master cylinder, and just a bit of harness changes but it was still all relatively straightforward.  The task suggested here doesn't smell at all straightforward though.  It would take more intestinal fortitude than I've got to want to take it on.

Exactly why I ordered the 2020 with it already.....don't have enough miles to see if it was worth it. But I would rather have bought it and say it wasn't worth it, then to try and add it later.

One thing seems likely for sure you’ll need the GTS Boom radio to start with.

Dare I ask why do you think that?

The GTS radio was last months project.   Been there,  done that.

But why do you think it required?

Well, all the videos online show it with a new GTS and if you can retrofit it, it’ll probably take a year before Harley comes up with an idea, a day late and a dollar more that’s how Harley works.

The reason it is shown with the new radio is easy...RDRS came out in 2020 and the new radio came out in 2019....so all the bikes with RDRS would have the new radio!

Ya beat me to it MJB

I think a really good place to start would be to compare wiring diagrams of a new 2020 with RDRS to something older that does not have it such as my 2018.   That would pretty much identify location and all of the sensors / controllers required and what sections of the harness exist and what would need to be created.

I agree with twolane Anything can be accomplished with time and money.   Geees,   I hope nobody tells Twolane it can’t be done.

Based on what I was told by my dealership, the non-CVO 20 MY bikes have to be ordered from the MoCo with RDRS and can not be added afterwards. Not sure of the reason but I'm sure if a person were to throw enough money at it just about anything can be accomplished.
