today while riding, I finally got some numbers together for my comment....when I am in 3rd gear and letting off the throttle, as it goes down in speed when it comes to 37 mph, I hear this moaning, groaning sound like ghosts are in my engine.  Anybody else hear it??  could be a mile or 2 difference in some bikes but it definitely is something I can reproduce. And of course several of us have commented about that little zzzzzzzzz (turbine sort of sound) we get when slowing down to a stop as well.  That one is in 1st gear only, I think.  This is different.  Give it a try and we'll see if I'm just losing my mind....... Porky... your compensator will make the sound you describe above.

The turbine sound I spoke of a few months ago or a howling sound is still there and is not the 1st gear whine. I still think it is a bad rear wheel bearing or the design of the rear wheel when spinning between 30 and 35 MPH.

We aren't going crazy..
