WHIM delete
« on: September 19, 2020, 04:24:01 PM »

Asking for a friend who has a 2020 CVO Limited with the WHIM from the factory.  He is having numerous problems as have many others and wonders if it is possible / feasible to add the audio wiring harness and parts to have a corded system and not use the WHIM.  Anyone does this and if so do you have a list of parts required.  TIA.

Prior to removal, have you tried updating the firmware on the WHIM module and headsets ?   Firmware updates typically take care of a lot of issues.

I debated adding a 7 pin connector and buying a Sena Freewire

I just did not like that the free wire has to plug into a 7 pin connector and seems like going back in time. Either way, Road Glide fairing had to come off, so I went with WHIM. I hate Apple so no issues with Carplay. Have not heard same BS with Android Auto.....yet.

Bought WHIM brand new in box with instructions and all parts from selling page here for $175

Thanks Tim.  Yes he (and the dealer and Harley) have all been through it many many times.  He still has problems with it ceasing to work and having to stop, shut down and start back up.  Plus on recent road trip with him his battery wouldn't make it all day and he had more than one.

Sounds like the WHIM is bad and needs to be replaced
