Bike theft
« on: March 01, 2019, 04:17:10 AM »

Bike theft in the UK has been out of control.  There has been all sorts of videos of thieves stealing bikes in broad daylight in the city centres.
Passers by being threatened off by one or two of the thieves with clawhammers in hand as a third cuts the bike free.

The police have been restrained from giving chase because the thieves would remove their helmets and it was deemed unsafe to the thieves for the police to continue the chase.
Here's the insane bit,...if the police continued with the chase and the thief was injured as a result of the chase the police in question would be charged for endangering one safety.

That law has now been removed,.....step 1

This is step 2

Reg police don't carry there's the red coppers that carry, "called red because their cars have red markings" that identifies them as being armed.

Unfortunately not much different then in the good old USA for LEOs, Think of high speed pursuits here and the law suits involved if someone gets injured.
Then if a USA LEO uses his weapon and someone dies look at the bad press, lawsuits and investigations even if person was breaking the law and refusing to stop his criminal behavior or acts in a threatening manner.... I sure hope English red coppers don't have the same problems if weapons are used....

There has been some where the coppers have been dragged over the cobblestones by the people that think coppers shouldn't have guns but cleared by an inquest.
We had a full scale riot that spread from city to city a few yrs back when a man with a gun was shot by police

The last shooting was in 2017 a man used a car and run people down crashed the car then stabbed to death an unarmed policeman that tried to apprehend him.

At the end of the day hope the this new law has an effect on the high bike theft.
