Inop brake Lights 2015 CVO Street Glide
« on: May 13, 2019, 10:21:29 PM »

My 2015 CVO Street Glide brake lights are inoperative Long shot I know, but on vacation trip and brake lights come on w/ rear brake pedal and front brake lever. All running  lights as work and  R & L t-signals function properly. Fuses are good. Do not have a wiring schematic any ideas?

Need to clarify, did you mean the brake lights do NOT come on with pedal or front brake lever?

Brake lights do not come on when using the rear brake pedal or front brake lever, running lights work as well as R & L turn signals. All fuses good.

If I'm not mistaken the 2014 and later bikes no longer have a separate relay to handle the brake lights but instead are controlled by the BCM.  Check for diagnostic trouble codes, if there is a fault in the circuit the BCM should have set a code.

The brake light wires are blue/red (see attachment).  You may need to trace that wire back from the connector at the rear lights to the BCM to check for continuity, it's possible a wire got damaged.

Wish I had a simple answer but I think this one is going to take some diagnostics.

With a test light start at your brake pedal switch to see if you have power to it and if so through it, then after you do have power through the switch, remove the seat to find the connector as shown in the diagram above and see if you have power at that number 4 wire when applying the brake pedal or the hand brake, if you don't then most likely be BCM.
If you didn't have power to the brake switch, re check fuses

Front or rear master cylinder (you have two)?  And how would one alter brake light switch that responds to the other?  No idea what they might really have found.  Must have been a quickie for what's likely a half hour labor charge.  Hell, you were lucky they didn't have a one hour minimum.

I agree was wondering which one master cyl. myself. When checking told it was a 2 hr. minimum. I kept pestering the service adviser about various things guess he wanted to get rid of me had been there nearly 7 hours you right  I got lucky to get out for $41.00.
