Rider's Claw iPod Mount - Poll
« on: December 28, 2008, 10:54:24 AM »

I'm interested in obtaining some 2009 market info for our Rider's Claw iPod Mount (pic below)
Posted on the Electronic Toys & Gadgets section, we received over 960 views.
Posted on the Group Buy section, we received over 650 views.

Since our initial launch in March '08, we have sold over 100 units without any real serious advertising investment, which we consider a success.
A successful 2009 goal would be for us to double/triple our 2008 numbers.

My intentions here are to attempt to gain some public opinion from the very group of people we want to market to.

Thank you for your poll input... and please feel free to add your comments.

I don't have one yet but I do plan on buying one in the near future once get the Christmas bills paid off.  I've been looking for a mount since I bought the bike and this looks like best one to me.

I just ordered one. Looks very clean.  I can't wait to get it, or the bike I'm mounting it to for that matter.

Not yet.... but we have had enough inquiries to put it on the drawing board.
Maybe by Summer.

Very well made, nice product with fast shipping.   :2vrolijk_21:
I just wished I could have a recharge cable hook up even though the nano did run over 8 hours up n back to Daytona last week.  :2vrolijk_21:
Would highly recommend and will buy the "new" model.  ::)
Putting it in upside down to hook up the recharge cable is not the end of the world but you how anal we can get.   ;) :P

Will the model for the 2nd gen Nano work with the 4th gen Nano too? They are both around the same size but the newer one has a bigger screen?

I have the Nano & the chromatic, have two riders claw's, works great, look's great. get A LOT of questions about it. the charging thing to me is not a problem, it will run longer than I can and then charge it up at night. as far as hiding the cable. hard to do, I run mine down the clutch cable and use chrome zips. Radio shack carries a grey cable but its only 12" long and the serg need 18 - 24", so im using the Black one for now.

I received my claw last week and mounted it. It looks GREAT!!! As Ken has said he is coming out with a claw that will be able to accommodate the charger cable. I look forward to seeing it. This is the best mount I have found and I researched extensively before I purchased my claw. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone wanting to mount their Ipod on the bars.

Yes, so did I - I think I may have posted that quote before I ordered the Claw and got in touch with you through your site.  I have to say your response was great and immediate (counting the time difference). Some sites can work out international postage, and not being able to see it through the site could put some off, but your response was so good it made no difference.

So, sorry if I caused you any upset - I'm more than happy, just can't wait for it to arrive.

Thanks again

Honestly... we're selling just enough to pay for building more.  But hey, we're having fun with it.
We have a small ad coming out in the April-Sept releases of American Iron so we'll see what happens.

The Rider's Claw is well engineered, fit/finish is excellent and once installed looks like it was made for the bike.
I don't know of a better iPod mount that will blend this well with a CVO.

Always appreciate the kind words.  Thanks Boss Man.

What I'd really like to do is start getting pics so I can add a Gallery to our web site.

Calling all CVO Rider's Claw owners... post/email 2 pics of your ride (your entire bike, and then a closeup of the mounted Riders Claw).

Hello Riders Claw...,

Regards, Alfred

Alfred - The mega gig iPods are what are called iPod Classics.  All of that storage is a result of them being "hard drive" systems with "moving parts" inside.
Unfortunatley, moving parts tend to stop moving when exposed to anything overly aggressive (dropping it on the ground, mounting it to a Harley).
The iPod Nanos are "flash drive" systems... all digital (no moving parts).  They are also small enough not to look too obtrusive mounted on your ride.
If you decide to buy your ride it's very own Nano, your Harley will be very happy. :P

We will ship outside of the US, but I'll need to let you know what the shipping cost will be.
Feel free to PM me with your address and I can let you know.

Nice ride Miker!
Didn't that model come with the iPod and GPS already built into the dash?

Haha... I just wrap my 120GB in a rag and drop in the the front compartment...

Jon - I haven't found one that it hasn't fit yet.

Ken

Just ordered another Claw to fit to my wife's Rocker C.

Looks good, but what happens when its tanking it down with rain?, I use a mount for my nano that is fully waterproof, its made by OTTERBOX, www.otterbox.com/ - 10k and you can still work the "wheel" when its inside through the thin waterproof membrane, check it out :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

Not sure I'd be all "dancing bananas" over that...
I suppose if 90% of your riding is in the pouring rain, function may be more important than the way it looks on your bike.  For me, I'll put my Nano away, turn on the radio and maybe find a dry place and a cold beer while I wait it out.
Ride Safe!

I hear where you are coming from my friend, and BTW your mount is far far more pleasing to the eye than the one i'm using, BUT you are missing one thing, I live in ENGLAND and it is always raining, and if I had to "wait it out and have a cold beer" i would always be drunk and never on the bike :drink: :drink:  you also take it easy my friend.

Think I'll have to invest in the Otterbox as well, like you I live where the sun always shines!!

Some pictures
