TCnBham,Diva, & REGGAB come to Memphis
« on: June 10, 2007, 12:36:30 AM »

I had the pleasure of meeting up with REGGAB, TCnBham, and Diva along with some of our Memphis gang, MJZ, ultrafxr and J Carolyn. We had a wonderful time at Corkys barbecue. It was great to finally meet REGGAB (Henry). Terry and Suzanne made their way down from Birmingham and is always great to see. Wish I could have been able to spend more time but was surely blessed for what time we had together. Here a a few pics I took today. Thanks everyone, God Bless!

Great looking bunch of folks there............except that REGGAB dude.  Man, what a camera breaker!   :huepfenjump3: :P  I didn't see you in there John.  Oh well, I'll fix that soon enough. :bananarock: :bananarock:.  I've never seen a  :bananarock: up close.  I had the honor to see two right by each other yesterday.  Just like I told Mark, that is a VERY beautiful machine.  The  :cherry: used to be my favorite, but that  :bananarock: takes the Henry award for SEEGs.  John, it was great to finally meet you and your lovely bride yesterday evening.  You are a VERY blessed man..........and dare I say..........so are the rest of us, if no other reason than the honor of knowing you.

Ride safe today everybody.  Happy Father's Day!

It was great seeing all of you guys and ladies...never any time better spent than with CVO brothers and sisters.

Did JR tell you I was growling when I was gnawing on that rib?  ;D

It was hotter than Hades riding back to B'ham today...went by the Mexican place (2 Pesos) and had a frozen Margahootie before we got home.  Man, it was HOT!!!!

Let me tell you, Hwy 78 from Memphis to B'ham...about 75 miles or more of it was the roughest stretch of hiway I've EVER been on, bike or car.  It was horrible.  The Alabama and TN side weren't so bad, but the stretch through Mississippi is like a rubboard....it beat Diva up pretty bad, so we got off in Alabama and rode backroads the rest of the way home.  I'll not be covering that stretch of road again anytime in the near future.  Lest we men forget, the ladies have parts that are more dramatically effected by rough roads than we do... ;)

I've never experienced a road like that before, and I've got decent suspension.  If you're stock, don't even attempt it, unless you're solo.  Trucks have totally screwed it up.

I have to support this middle section, buddy.  Man, those ribs were some COUNT!!!  I was miserable when I left there...blowed up like a bull frog.   ;D ;D

I'll be going up to Memphis the way we went up Saturday....157....good road, and we made good time.  I actually think it's faster going that way.

Did not know you were going to do 78. If I'd known, I would have talked you out of it. You don't notice it in a car but on a bike, it is the worst I've ever been on. I've gone to Tuscaloosa from Memphis more times than I can count and there are a dozen other back routes that are much better and the closest you get to 78 is crossing a bridge under or over it. Depending on the route, adds between 1/2 - 1 hour Memphis to Tuscaloosa, very good scenic some twisty routes, it's well worth it.

Hey Terry.  Glad you and Diva made it back safe & sound.  Sorry 78 was so bad on you.  I haven't been on it in a while - try to avoid it.  The trucks really do a number on it.  I'll be heading out 72 on my way to Traxxion for sure!

So good to see you guys, Henry and the Memphis Group.

Mark, Jerry told me about the road, but it had been so long since I'd been on it (at least 15 years), I wanted to see what it is like now.  That'll be the last time I do it!!  We wound up getting off on 74, down to 5, then in through Jasper, so the last part was fine.

It was a good ride, and we had a great time with everyone...we'll be up again, for sure!!

Henry's travels continued today.  He collected me, Scooterhair, Hobo and their significant others in Rogers, AR.  From there we rode east across northern Arkansas to US 65 and turned north passing through Branson on our way to throwed rolls and other good food at Lamberts.  Lamberts was Henry's primary destination for the day.  So he suffered through snacks and beer in Eureka Springs, AR and rain showers on the way to get there.

Good food and good times were had by all all afternoon.  Jokes and laughter and good riding and good food.  I came through a heluva storm getting the 90 miles back home from the restaurant but it still couldn't have been a finer day.

Thanks again to Henry for bending his trip to allow the opportunity to meet up with so many along the way.  And to Scooter and Hob and the girls for getting out to enjoy such great day today.

Now who can I ride with next weekend  :nixweiss::huepfenlol2:

I HAVE ENERGY AGAIN!  Man did it feel good to sleep.  Can't tell you where the past two days have gone............only that they were fun, fulfilling, and will be fondly remembered.  Others have covered the jist of things, so I'll try to fill in some of the details.  BTW, it is raining like crazy here in Springfield, MO, and I have about 285 miles left to go.  Don't need to be there until 1600, so I'm not in a huge hurry.

My camera battery petered out in Eureka Springs yesterday, so sorry.........I didn't get a picture of the famous bathroom or a picture of the dollar bill Scooter gave me that I put on the ceiling.  Anyway, starting off, met Terry and Suzanne at Foster's as mentioned earlier.  Got to ride Terry's bike.  FOLKS, READ THIS NEXT PART AND PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!  Night and day difference between a stock suspension bike (mine), and a Traxxion Dynamics front/myriad modifications rear (Terry has Legends).  I did need but a few yards at 80mph to fully understand the difference.  The bike stays glued to the road.  Firm, not bouncy.  Very stable.
We rode to Memphis via US72 to Bumpus of Collierville.  Here's a few shots:

Terry's, Jerry's and Henry's bikes in Collierville.

I have three shots of Jerry's Bushtec.  I can't believe the storage space.  Just to give you an idea of how big this thing is, I could fit in there.......easily.......and I'm 6' 1", and have plenty of room left over.

The paint match is perfect.  Awesome trailer.  Another addition to the "WANT" list.  Bike install looks straightforward as well.  I didn't get a picture of it.....you might could see it in the earlier picture of Jerry's Jester, but I'm wondering if it could be done without the "V" chrome piece and still be relatively hidden when not toting the trailer?  Oh yeah.....that's a cooler up front.  Plenty of room for lots of Yuenglings..............or of course, your choice of barley pop.

Terry, Jerry, and Mark.  Mark's banana is SHARP.  Love that bike.  He has one of those blue LEDs on the rear of his bike.  Looks really awesome and provides extra visibility.  I had to have one.  I asked him about it, and he said he got it at Bumpus of Memphis.  So when we got there, I was picking up a brake disk lock and asked a lady behind the parts counter if she had one.  She said she did, but it was spoken for.  No problem.  I continued my transaction.  Another gentleman comes up to her and asked who it was for.  She said it was for Jerry.  Well, he's standing about 15 feet away from me, so I begged him to let me buy it.  Thanks Jerry.  Now I have a reason to spend some quality time in the garage when I get home........as if I need to do that.   ;D

Left at 0550 the next morning with a final destination of Springfield, MO.  Stopped in Rogers, AR to visit some family friends with whom Renea and I did some Boxer dog rescue work over the past 10 years.  Here is a picture of Chulo.  He's a great Boxer gentleman.

Last one for now.  This is one of my favorite pictures.  I have no idea what the name of this little place is.  It is in Eureka Springs, AR.  What a great looking group.  We had some great conversation, munched on some appetizers to tide us over until we got to Lambert's Cafe in Ozark, MO, and consumed some barley pop.....OK, I had more than one ;D.  I don't think I've laughed so hard or had a better time in at least two years.  I'm beginning to realize that all this working and going to school is making me a very dull, bitter, intense, irritable, gouchy, mean, cranky, lifeless, stressed out, bummed out, and generally "unfun" sonofabeotch.   ;D  I need to get out more often.  I am having such a great time.  It was at this point that my camera battery petered out.  We went across the street to another little barley pop joint with some kind of world famous bathroom.  I left my mark (dollar bill that Scooter gave me on which I wrote "Bagger from Bama was here" and tacked it to the ceiling along with all the others.  Look for it if you visit.  I think the place is called............The Bathroom.  Then we traveled to Ozark, MO and pigged out on some Throwed Rolls.  I was so stuffed and tired I could barely keep my eyes open for the ride to the hotel just up US 65.  After we ate, we all donned rain gear and parted ways.  I scooted up to the Chestnut Expressway and spent the night at the Hampton Inn, which is where I am right now as I write this.

That's it for now.  There were plenty of beer spewing quips...........too many to recall right now.  If they come to mind, I'll post them.  Plenty left on this trip.  Still have to get to Ft. Riley today.  Looks like it is going to be a wet ride.  WORK starts tomorrow.  I have to work on a school assignment this morning and get it emailed to my professor.  Then I'm packing up and hitting the road.......but, in the interest of healing..........you are witness to the fact that I took care of the important business first, and that is to keep my CVO brothers and sisters informed that there really is no better way to live than to travel great distances to visit with each other and enjoy life, but you already know that.  I need to practice what I preach.  Until later, I hope everyone has a great week.  God Bless!!!!!

Henry,
I was wondering if you had already left town yet. Its 0830 her and it is still raining like crazy. I had a hard time seeing while driving to work in the truck, I wouldn't like being on the scooter out in this right now. Hopefully it will let up shortly. The front looks like it is moving directly east and you might run out of it 50 or so miles north of Springfield.
Anyway, it was great to meet you yesterday. We all had a lot of fun. You be careful today, hopefully you will run out of the rain shortly after leaving Spfd. One of these days we will get down to your part of the country and you can show us around. I will post a couple of pics later. I forgot my camera, but Steph had hers and she will drop it off later so i can downlload. By the way, you got one good lookin' motorcycle, :cucumber:  kinda makes me start to think----hmmm  ::)---new motercycle------no wait, I gotta get to work now. See ya.

Howdy Cary,
It is 0922 right now, and I'm still here.  I've finished everything I need to do for now, so I'm about to shutdown this machine, pack up and hit the road.  I'm keeping an eye on the weather.  You're right.  It'll be tough for about 40-50 miles, but I'll get through it.
Certainly enjoyed meeting you yesterday.  Yeah, I'm kinda lovin' my melon, BUT.............I love the SERGs.  I'd like to have one as a second bike in 3 tone red.  Not too sure I want anything new from MOCO again.  Too many headaches to get this one right.
Take care and have a great day.

Henry, it was a super day yesterday.  All the credit is yours for giving us an opportunity to get together.  Or it was Scooter's and Hobo's for leading us back to Lamberts.  Or it was drunk chick's for being so damned funny.  Or it was.....   ah hell; who cares. We had a good time.

Safe ride to Riley.  I had only light to moderate showers on the trip home last night punctuated with the last 10 miles or so right in the middle of what had to be a super cell.  It was normal highway speeds until that last little bit.  But then, oh momma!

Made it in fine though.  Had to find the switch to deploy the bike's water wings.  And wo baby is that a dirty bike right now.  But it was a great afternoon's ride.  Really had fun.  Thanks again for making the detour to make it all possible.

Henry we had a blast. It was great to meet you and hear about your travels. Things like this make the world just a little smaller place. We will be sure to plan a trip down that way for sure, and thanks for the invite.

I sure hope your dry by the time you read this. Since you left a little later it looks like you missed most of the rain.

Take care, ride safe.

OOOOOOOO  FYI

" DC "  :drink:  hasn't found the sticker yet  !

That's why I can still type.

I will update later, if I can.

For all that don't know what all this is:

DC is the nick name for the wife " Drunk Chick " .
And I stuck a biker sticker on her back " without her knowing " ;D . She wore it all afternoon and evening , yes even to the restaurant.

Man my anal cavity retaining skin will really get it when she does find it.

OOOOOOO well  the rest of us had some fun with it.  :drink:

I had the pleasure of meeting up with REGGAB, TCnBham, and Diva along with some of our Memphis gang, MJZ, ultrafxr and J Carolyn. We had a wonderful time at Corkys barbecue. It was great to finally meet REGGAB (Henry). Terry and Suzanne made their way down from Birmingham and is always great to see. Wish I could have been able to spend more time but was surely blessed for what time we had together. Here a a few pics I took today. Thanks everyone, God Bless!

JR, thanks for posting the pix.   :bananarock:    It was so nice to finally get to meet your bride. She's just as sweet as you said.   :2vrolijk_21:   Hope we can spend more time with the two of you at a later date.

Jerry, thanks to you and JCarolyn for your hospitality.   :)   We really enjoyed our visit.   :2vrolijk_21:

Speaking of Highway 78, I recall your mentioning to Terry at breakfast that it would shake our teeth out.

Henry

Henry, it was great to see you again.   :2vrolijk_21:   The mother hen in me worried that you would run into bad weather heading west.  So glad that you are safe and that you met up with some other amigos.

Well folks, I made it!  I'm safe on the ground in Manhattan, KS about 20 miles from Fort Riley.  Planned it that way so the scooter would have time to reach normal operating temperature before I shut her down each trip during the next four days.  Todays ride was uneventful save for the sheer beauty of the Missouri and Kansas countryside.  Don gave me some directions for backroads.  Started the trip in rain gear.  It was sorta spitting rain in Springfield this morning.  Got on US 65, headed to I44 and got of at the MO 13 exit.  About 25 miles north on MO 13 I came out of the rain gear, but left a jacket on as it was a touch cool.  Headed west on US 54.  Passed by the Silverline Ranch.  HUGE place.  Beautiful house.  Crossed into Kansas and headed north on US 69...........I love that number  :P :P :P :P.......ANYWAY......back on track.  Went back into rain gear about 30 miles northbound on US 69 (there's that number again), and came out of it just south of Kansas City.  Got on I-70 via I435 and headed west.  Just past the toll plaza there was one of those service islands with a Conoco and a McDonald's.  Stopped, got gas, and called the other members of my team.  They were right behind me, so we made the remainder of the trip together.

Work begins in the morning.

I should find out later this week if I'm heading east to Fort Eustis or south to home on Saturday.  Whatever happens, I'll keep you posted.

Have a great evening everyone.

Oh, and about the DC, man that girl is a trip..........and just as funny is the Goat Girl!  When she did that I just about fell off my bar chair!  Dying here :ROFLOL: Major beer SPEW!  And Don, that joke about the chicken and the nails.....................OK, my gut hurts, and I'm squirtin' tears.  Jeez you guys are a BLAST!  Scooter I'm so glad you haven't been busted...........yet..............but keep in mind, people talk! ;D  You probably ought to hook Hobo up good.   :mango:

My bike is trashed out dirty.  I'm hungry.  Gonna go eat and wash the scoot.  Later!

Well folks, I made it!

Congratulations on another great ride in the books.  If you end up having to go on to Newport News that'll be quite a trip when you're done.  Check the back tire.  Have more fun.  Ride Safe.  And have more fun!

Congratulations on another great ride in the books.  If you end up having to go on to Newport News that'll be quite a trip when you're done.  Check the back tire.  Have more fun.  Ride Safe.  And have more fun!

Yessir, and just yesterday you and I were speaking of opening the cam case at 15K to check tensioners.  That'll probably happen when I get home if I end up going by way of the Hampton Roads area.  I don't have exact numbers, and the scoot is clean as a whistle, covered, and I don't want to walk back out there again but numbers so far are some 320 miles for today, 1100 and change so far for the trip, and 13100 and change total for the scooter.  I could "probably" make it home on the current back tire, BUT there is 1/32" of tread left above the wear bars, so that tire I asked to have reserved for me will go on this Thursday.  I aint taking NO chances on tires.  I should know by midweek if I'm headed to Newport News, so we'll hold off setting up any CVO meetings until some of this fluidity runs off.  Either way, I wanna meet more of you.  It's been WAY AWESOME so far..............but first, there is much work to be done here.

Don, so you went through a real "toad strangler," or was it a "turd floater, or perhaps a "gully washer?"  I dunno...........maybe Scooter will chime in here with his unique terminology describing the outcome of bad clouds.  Anyway, glad you made it home safe.  I guess I'm weird............I'm beginning to like riding in the rain.  If someone had asked me two days ago, my reply would have been "well, I can and will if I have to, but I'm not gonna hunt it down.  It is a challenge.........gives me the opportunity to really concentrate on proper riding skills.........which is something I should be doing constantly, but the rain serves to further enhance that requirement.  I had a BLAST...........and it aint over yet.

Wonder if we can get naitram to change the startup sound of this website to Goat Girl's laugh?  ;D ;D  And if we're gonna do that, then we need to get a picture of Scooter and the DC on the custom choppa when she knocks him upside the head the next time he downshifts two gears and runs up to 130.  That'd be KEWL!  ;D

And remember folks...........only ONE beer!  ;)

I take the credit for having a requirement to be somewhere to do my job, deciding to get there on the scooter and asking who wants to get together.  Scooter and Hobo get big Kudos for great navigation.  You, Scooter, DC and the Goat Girl get the credit for keeping us stitched up laughing.  I about died when Steph told the story of getting her panties signed.  Drunk Chick gets the credit for promoting biker awareness to the general public from her unusal BSR position since she normally rides her own pony.  But like you said, Don.........we had an awesome time, so who the f^#k cares.  ;D

I know............you went through a "pig washing" last night.............so why was your scooter so dirty?   ;D ;D ;D

Scooter  :coolblue:

Scooter, Brother, you're a friggin' riot :2vrolijk_21: :pineapple: :mango:.  You and the DC kept me in stitches.  Really great to meet you guys.  Had an awesome time.  The invite stands......anytime.  Tell us when your ten miles out so we have some reaction time to clean the outhouse real good and get a fresh Sears and Roebuck catalog in there for ya.

High and dry, Bro.  See ya soon.

Jerry, thanks to you and JCarolyn for your hospitality.   :)   We really enjoyed our visit.   :2vrolijk_21:

Speaking of Highway 78, I recall your mentioning to Terry at breakfast that it would shake our teeth out.

I'll second that, Jerry and J. Carolyn.  You have a very beautiful home, and I very much appreciate your hospitality.  Never have a Modelo before.  Very good beer.  Need to pick some up at the Class VI store.  It was an honor and a pleasure to finally meet you both.

Henry, I didn't know how much of a turd surfer it was until about 10 minutes ago.  My sis was on the phone and said something like "you rode through THAT."  While I knew I got stuck the last few miles in quite a storm I didn't know it was THAT bad.

From Ozark across the James River Bypass to I-44 was the same weather we had at Lamberts.  So no big deal.  The bike doesn't really know, the tires were good, and I was geared up.  So it was just weather.  At night.  But just a little weather.

Got to I-44 and it actually let up some.  Anything from light showers to only sprinkles for 50 miles.  Going 75 was no problem.  Used every bit of normal highway speed that felt safe as I could see a huge cell of lightning off in the distance that I could tell was still the other side of Joplin.  Wanted to beat that sucker home.

About 15 miles outside of town it caught up with me.  Turd surfing frog floating underwear drenching torrential rains of motorbiblical proportions it certainly seemed.  So, you might say, it was raining.  When I got in to town noticed that a few streets that I'd never seen actually retain water and make rivers within were doing just that.  But still didn't take it for more than a hard rain.

Then just looked at the NOAA reporting for last night after my sis's comments.  Nailed chickens!!  At 10:30, which is just when I hit, began a one hour period with well over 2.25" of rainfall.  High winds to boot.  Lightning.  What a mess.  Nearly 11" reported during a six hour stretch.  The bike did swim through some streets in town the last few blocks to make it home.  But hey, the bottom of the bike is now really clean  :2vrolijk_21: .

Henry, it was great to see you again.   :2vrolijk_21:   The mother hen in me worried that you would run into bad weather heading west.  So glad that you are safe and that you met up with some other amigos.

Happy and Safe Trails,

Suzanne

Suzanne, as always, it is great to see you and Terry whenever we can.  Renea and I very much appreciate your offer to visit when we take Stef back to UAB Children's Hospital to have her exfix removed.  We'll give you a call when we have a surgery date.  I understand the "mother hen" thing.  I was trying to concentrate on riding in the suck today and every ten minutes Renea was buzzing me on Nextel Direct Connect.  I was sooooooooooo glad when I got out on MO 13, US 54 and parts of US 69 (THE number) where there was no connectivity.  Speaking of no connectivity..........oh, this is good.  Didn't have much connectivity yesterday at all.  I know Renea was worried sick, since she is a bigtime mother hen.  We stopped somewhere in northern Arkansas to pay the last of the rent on the beer.  My Nextel phone has no connectivity, nor does my T-Mobile phone.  So Scooter, who has five bars, punches my home number into his phone.  Stef answers.  She asks who was calling.  Scooter says "Can I talk to your Mom."  Stef asks who it was, so he says "Scooter!"  "Tell her your Dad just laid his bike down with a stripper on the back.  ACK!  Gimmee the phone Scooter.  Stef, it's me, Daddy, he's joking............but don't let on to Mom, 'cause we're gonna get her later.  I guess she was out tending her garden.  Stef starts laughing and agrees.  So we get to Lamberts, and I'm just about in Hypoglycemic shock by now.  HUNGRY!  I call Renea, she answers, Scooter blurts out "hey ask him about that stripper on the back of his bike.  I could see Renea's eyes popping out of the cell phone.  Too funny.  Guess you had to be there.

I mentioned in the bitch of the day thread that I had washed the scooter yesterday evening, and then it rained last night.  It was still spittin' when I suited up to ride to Marshall Field this morning.  On the way, I think I got a little taste of that which Don endured Sunday evening on his way back to Joplin........no sooner had I turned onto I-70, it came up a BAD cloud.  WOW!  And my back tire isn't the greatest right now.  Thought I was hydroplaning a few times.  Now get this.  I'm tooling down I-70 in a real turd floatin' downpour, I round the bend, Marshall Field comes into view...........and our Soldiers are out there doing PT...........running in the pouring rain.  Like we always said when I was in the Army, "If it aint rainin', it aint trainin'!  God Bless those kids.  I remember those days........PT in the rain.........probably why I haven't run a step since I retired.

We had a REALLY great day here.  WOW!  I keep wondering how this trip just keeps getting better and better, but I've stopped that and accepted the fact that I am very blessed to be where I am doing what I'm doing right now.  You gotta LOVE IT!   :orange: :mango: :bananarock: :apple: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pineapple: :pepper:

It is supposed to rain again tonight, but I couldn't help myself.  I had to at least spray off the scooter, wipe her down, and cover her up.  Just doesn't seem right to put her to bed dirty.

When you go to the Wagon Wheel, you've got to sign a dollar bill and tack to the ceiling. Here's henry making his mark. This place sold to a new owner a year or two ago and the old owner took all of the one dollar bills off the ceiling with him when he left. I heard there was about two to three thousand of them!

Finally, here's Don and Scooter at Lamberts. We left there at about 9:00pm. Henry had done about 500 miles and several stops, he was a wooped pup. Don got to ride 80 miles home in an intermittant "Toad Strangler" aka "Turd floater" thunderstorm. We are looking forward to Henry coming back through on Friday and going out for dinner and  :drink: :drink:

Yep, he will be in in the afternoon and, his plan is now, spend the night and try to make it all the way home on Saturday.

I'm probably hosed for getting out of town tomorrow night.  But someone might leave a message with time and place when you know them.  I have been known to give in to temptation......

Awesome pictures Cary.  You guys really need to stop taking pictures of that backerds Bagger dude.  He is one ugly mo fugger.

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, I have finished my work.........for now.........at Ft. Riley.  I get to come right back up here again next month, but we'll talk about that later.  I'm leaving in the morning.  Gotta new back tire plus some other work done today, and since the fine folks at City Cycle Sales HD in Junction City, KS took such good care of me, I'm gonna let them do my gear drive cams when I'm in town next month.  The household appropriations commitee is currently deliberating the expenditure.  I made a good presentation and pointed out all the reliability pluses as opposed to performance gains.  I think I sold it, so hopefully Renea..............er.......uh.........the commitee will release funds and issue an order for immediate acquisition and rapid fielding upon my return.  Pray for me, will ya?  Thanks.  Scooter, DC, Hobo, and GG, I'll see ya'll tomorrow.

I discovered this pic on the camera,so thought I'd share.  This was the early group at Corky's in Memphis...Jerry, J Carolyn, Henry, Mark, Suzanne.  As you can tell, we had a great time.  JR and Debbie weren't there yet.

Howdy All, I made it home about 4 hours ago.  Beautiful ride today.  Close to 550 miles from Springfield, MO.  Since this post closes out my trip to Ft. Riley, KS for this go around, I'd like to say thanks to all those who offered their hospitality.  I am especially grateful to Cary (Hobo) and Shawn (Scooterhair) for opening their homes to me, and "allowing" me to consume copious quantities of barley pop.  I had a blast during the past seven days........even the work was fun...........and I can't wait until 7 July when I get to do it all over again.  I don't think I've mentioned that yet, have I?  Well, once it firms up a little more, I will, but for now, suffice it to say that I'll be doing this trip again in the near future.  Onward!

I took a few pictures yesterday while riding down KS 177 and east on US 54.  Enjoy.  This has to be some of the prettiest countryside I've ever seen.  All the windmills, the wells, and just the openess of the entire area is overwhelming to me.  If you ever get the opportunity to ride KS 177, please do so.  You WILL love it.  It is 106 miles of sheer beauty..........as well as some rathering interesting sites...........some which came up so fast, that I didn't have time to grab the camera out of the bottle caddy.

Trivia, for all you navigation geeks.  Find this on a map.  Should be very easy to figure out where I was at the time.  I ride old school.  No GPS; plan a route; commit it to memory, and go.

My bike washin' beotches!   ;D ;D  Just kidding Shawn and Cary.  These guys were good enough to lend a hand at getting half the state of Kansas off my scooter.  That has to be one of the "buggiest" states I've ever ridden in...........save for Florida.  Thanks guys!  You ROCK!

I've never experienced a road like that before, and I've got decent suspension.  If you're stock, don't even attempt it, unless you're solo.  Trucks have totally screwed it up.
Thanks for the 'warning' on that stretch of hwy., Terry.  There are some sections of I-40 in NC that are getting pretty bad from being beatin' out by the trucks.....as 2Ln. says: backrds are the way to travel on 2 wheels.  :bananarock: :huepfenjump3: har!  spyder

Yes it is, and it is Cary's (Hobo's).  He told me the acquistion process of how he got that that thing.  He needs to tell that story.  It is a 1989, about 43K on the clock, and is pristine.  Cary and Steph use it as their date car.  Very nice.  I got all nostalgic and chit looking at it.............I'm not a chevy man...........never have been, but those IROCs are awesome..............and hot chicks look hotter in them!!! :orange: :mango: :bananarock: :apple: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pineapple: :pepper:

My little 5 foot nuthin aunt bought it new in 89 at age 57. My uncle used to get a new Lincoln every year and would come home and say to my aunt, "come on Joyce and lets go get you a new car" and she always said there wasn't anything made she would like better. So I told her for years that I would like to buy it when she was ready to sell. About 3 years ago after my uncle died she called and said that she wanted a new car and I could buy the IROC, then not more than three days later she called back and said she just couldn't do it, she said that I could have it when she died. I half jokingly told her that I didn't want it then. Well, she died in Nov 05 of heart failure and after my cousin settled the estate he called and told me to come and get it. I believe it was what we call in the car biz as a "price leader" for an ad. Base sticker was $14,145 with an up charge of $2,545 for the IROC pkg, $490 for the automatic trans, $15 for door edge guards and a $1,600 discount package, with destination total MSRP was $16,034.  I still have the original window sticker. I did some paint touch-up and took a couple of dings out and shes not perfect, but it is very nice. I just keep it in the garage and drive it 3 or 4 times a year to keep it excercised. Like Henry said, Stephanie and I use it on "Date Night" when we are going somewhere nice for dinner, ya know , like the Sizzler.   :o ;D
