So we got settled into the room and it was time to “hit” the city.  But before we could accept that task it was time for the shrine to occur.  Now many of you on the site know the “famous shirt” but what you do not know it the shrine to it.

Having set up the shrine it was time to hit the city…First stop the University of Virginia located directly across from our hotel.  UV is home to over 20,000 students and some mighty fine “eye candy” too!  It would be here that we would join up with Fired00d and get the real story of this campus.

Thomas Jefferson established in 1819, it is the only university in the United States to be designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, an honor it shares with nearby Monticello.

One of the largest construction projects in North America up to that time, the new Grounds were centered upon the Rotunda rather than a church—further distinguishing it from peer universities of the United States, most of which were still primarily functioning as seminaries for one particular religion or another.
