Grandpadoc's Ride to Sturgis 2010
« on: August 02, 2010, 12:15:34 AM »

Terry and I are on the road to Sturgis 70. We are with a couple who has never been there before and was all planned a year ago with another couple that bailed. So you know "ya just got to help a friend" when you can. Due to some medical issues we had to trailer, but with day trips around the stops along the way.
It all started on my birthday last Friday. I blew out the candles with my grand daughter.

Jackson Wyoming sure does bring back a lot of memories for me. Ride safe and have fun Doc. Seeya when you get back.

What a great place. In this town the "bike rack" is full of Harleys. The locals chose this as their favorite mode of transportation.  :2vrolijk_21:   Doc

How's the Marelli system handling the altitude?  Any quirks or all ok?

Hi Don, I haven't even heard a hickup. The road through Teton/Yellowstone are in good shape this time, but the speed limit is only 45 mph through most of it. The bike ran fine as long as I kept it above 2K so I had to do a lot of shifting from 4th and 5th, but no complaints. The 510g's sweet spot seems to be 2200 and above.  Doc

That's good to read.  Altitude used to be one of the complaints heard on M&M bikes.  But it didn't have to be.  I've got Mackie's 510 cams in mine and it's the same happy motor you describe.  Glad the bike is happy and it looks like you guys are having such a great trip.  Compared to where you're riding now, screw it, I'd have trailered across the desert too :2vrolijk_21: .
