« on: September 25, 2011, 02:29:09 PM »

I'm just back from a week's riding in Colorado, with an unexpected side trip to Moab.

Great ride report! Did much of that route this spring. Was so impressed with the Black Canyon of the Gunnison! Glad you had a good time!

Just left Maggie Valley and am on my way there. Colorado, Utah then home to California.

Great pics, looking forward to it. Interesting about the number of tourists in the area. Guess I'll have to learn to plan for accommodations.

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

We spent a week riding the Rockies in Colorado about a month ago...

Incredible riding and views!

And a daily thunderstorm...   But it was well worth it...   :2vrolijk_21:

This is a slow time of year in Colorado, between the summer tourist season and the winter ski season. It was only Moab where we had a problem finding a room.

I've been going to Colorado every summer for the last 20+ years, I think I missed one year when we lived in Utah.  This September trip was the best ever, and we had perfect weather the entire trip.

Terrie and I rode southwest Colo. last Sept......not a drop of rain at all.  But up on top of Monarch Pass it was so foggy it felt like rain.  When do clouds become fog?  When you climb so high that you're in the clouds. :)

Here's a few pages of pics of southwest Colo.......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=54514.msg787414#msg787414

Great ride report.  Thanks for sharing the pictures and information about that area.  We have to put it on our to-do list for sure!

I've been to Switzerland a couple of times, but never on two wheels.  For me the Alps on a Harley would be the experience of a lifetime.

You're right Colorado in Fall is pretty awesome.
