Grandpadoc and Bimbo's Ride to Spokane
« on: July 27, 2012, 11:32:05 PM »

We started out today at the crack of dawn and met up with Russ and Vivian for lunch in Bishop, Ca. The weather is so nice here we decided to take the 395 all the way to Spokane.

Doc, that should be easy.  When you get to Ritzville (I-90)(you're about 1 hr away from hotel), hang a right then get off on exit 291-B (Sullivan) and the hotel is right there.  Safe trip.  Let's Roll

Thanks Gabe for the instructions. We will be spending Sunday in Pendleton and heading your way from there. I'd like you to meet our new riding mascot RK (road kill)...long story. He will be joining us on the trip the rest of the way and is looking forward to meeting everyone at the GTG.  :orange: :huepfenjump3:

Today we rode 395 to Lakeview, OR. What a great way to ride through California !!!  You just can't beat the weather and the hundreds of miles of fast well paved two laners. Here we are going through Reno.

We arrived in Lakeview, OR and went out to eat. RK already had his fill of bugs he snagged off the windshield, so he decided to hang out at the motel.

I heard there was going to be a migration of butterflies in some of the passes along 395 today so he wanted to hang out in the winshield vent again.

As some of you know, our bike broke down in Spokane and thanks to Gabe and Dave it found a nice place to stay while we continued our trip. I flew home on Tuesday and drove my truck and trailer 22 hours straight to get back for cocktail time on Wednesday. We had a great time at the GTG and have since visited Glacier NP for two days (pics to come) and did this today in Whitefish MT...

We decided to take a tour bus into Canada. The buses are from the the 30's and were in storage for many years until it was decided to refurbished them. The newer vans were not working out well so long story short, the Ford Motor Company restored them completely and put them on modern motor home chassis. They are open air and a great way to see the park.

On our way to Coeur d' Alene we passed through many little towns. This is Wallace, ID where we found a antique store with a Schlitz beer sign that I had to have.

Great pictures, you guys.  Sure looked like you had a great time even with the breakdown.  Miss traveling with you two.  Hope to do some riding in the near future.  Can't wait to see you both in S.C.  Later.

They had a gift shop there so Terry couldn't resist picking out something to add to the Roosters collection.

The next morning we headed to the coast for lunch at one of the Roosters favorite fish restaurants in Newport, OR. It was a nice sunny day and Terry's (Roosters) birthday.

This place had the best fish on the coast and very worthy of a stop if you are in the area.

Yesterday we headed South again to meet up with our daughter in Miranda along the Avenue of the Giants in the redwoods. We spent the night at Ship Ashore resort where I used to go salmon fishing off the coast every year. It was a little foggy and cool which was typical for this part of NorCal but made for a very enjoyable day.

Our destination was the Miranda Gardens which is well know to the NorCal bunch. To our surprise they have completly renovated all of the cabins and used as much of the orginal material as they could.
