Starting to look into some work on my '12......Smitty the head guy in Edmonton, when he does the heads also wants to do the throttle body.......says they don't flow the same. Never heard of this before.

They can be improved but usually the ends don't justify the means and if the motor demands more then a hpi or SE throttle body swap is wise.

Don't waste your time with the stock TB, get an HPI. Go big or stay home.

I am not making a big engine....don't think I'll need a bigger TB?? Just making my 110 so it wont grenade on me........Lifters, cam bearings...Rocker keepers to quiet it down ....maybe oil pump and cam plate. I tow a Bushtec and was hoping for some extra low end.......MAYBE get the heads done compression a bit. Are the 255 cans ok to keep?

Primary concern is reliability and longevity......but.....if can be done fairly reasonable on price for the gain.....some extra power would be nice.

Oh!

I wouldn't do a whole lot other than what're you're doing then. If you're happy with 255 cams,
a good valve job, seals and such. Should be enough.

You're not going to need allot of "flow" with 255s, you won't turn enough RPM to use
a ported TB, stock should be fine. I wouldn't go overboard on the heads either. Pocket
port should be more than you'll need. Performance valve job is a must. That will gain
a fair amount of flow right there.

on my 13, had tman do heads and he port matched TB. motor was strong and then I thought I could do better with a 58 TB and after about $1500. later with parts and retune only gained 3hp and 2 tq and that was on the right..... your results may vary

Yeah. With a cam like that, there's only so much you can do. The valve timing becomes the bottle neck,
not the TB, not the ports, not the valves.

PS: Just get a PROPER valve job (with the correct angles/widths) and you'll be good to go. The standard (30/45/60 valve job won't get it done. trust me)

You don't need any fancy "porting", just a "proper" valve job! That cam won't let you take advantage
of any of that fancy stuff anyway. A slightly larger intake valve wouldn't hurt, but not mandatory.

Word up
