It's not a magic number, there are to many factors. You'll have to assemble everything and measure. Each setup is different.

The bike has been apart for close to two months waiting on my radio to come back. I sent it out for some warranty work as the warranty was set to end here shortly..... It finally arrived so it's time to work on the bike a little. Radio is first to go back in. Next is I have to make a new set of feet for my center stand as I went back to a 18" wheel (Matching chrome Agitator) and the tire height is different. I've been kicking around one of those very over priced side exhausts. I'm looking to change as we have been camping a lot and with the exhaust dumping under the bags and the dirt roads in some of the campgrounds... it is making a mess. Outside of that change the fluids and I'm good to go for the year.....

The radio is installed and working fine. While in the fairing I tried several powered and non powered antenna configurations. Not a single one improved the reception as well as a good old hanger did!! I taped the hanger to the antenna wire and tucked it into the fairing....

Backtracking....

At the beginning of last summer I purchased a toy hauler to see if I'd use it/enjoy camping. The biggest hurdle I saw was getting the bike in and out of the camper. The very first time I attempted to load the bike I messed up my front fender. I was so mad I backed the camper into the back yard and left it there for a couple of months before my second attempt.

I have since figured out how to load the bike. I have also since traded the 27' in for a new 38'. We spent 36 days last year out and about with the bike and camper. We are both looking forward to hitting the road this year.

Bent the fender forward after I got hung up on the camper floor lip than tried to back off of it.

I was able to pull the fender back without cracking the paint. Good thing it is an aluminum fender. While not perfect it is very close.

Cut line to shorten up the fender and allow for some ground clearance.
