Wanted to know how it looks to everyone, be honest good or bad I want to hear it. Just put it on and gave it a few down the road adjustments, its funny how a few degrees of angle can make or break a shield. I think it will help my blood pressure and I wont have to carry as much salt. If I lost ya on that one, the salt kills the bad taste those little yellow butterflies leave in your mouth, but its bad for blood pressure. Still have to carry some for the cold beer though :drink:

I think it looks good, very minimalist looking. I thought about buying the Windvest, but ended up going with the more traditional look of the HD windshield. Since I replaced my handlebars with the Wild1 510's which are wider than the stock handlebars, I thought the Windvest would look too small on my bike. I have heard that Windvest makes a good quality product and that it works well once you have adjusted the angle properly.

I've got the 14" on my Springer (same bike as yours). I set my angle to align with the rake on the front fork. Seems to work fine. Amazing what a small windshield does for the quality of the ride.

How was the road test?? I am thinking of getting one. Which size is it. Would love to see a few more pics.

I think the Windvest is the best looking shield you can get for a Harley — but that said, I don't like it on a Springer. My solution (not for everyone), is to use a quality full-face helmet.

My sentiments exactly. Looks as good as a shield can on a Springer,but not right in my opinion. I wear a full face helmet and armor jacket as well so I don't need it.Others tell me I'll come around to the Harley way and lose the full face helmet,but I don't see it happening.

The road test went good, there was no eye glass pop or helmet jiggle, it ended up real close to the same angle of the front forks like RPR50 said. Im not a tall guy 5'9" (taller on my back ha) and the stock seat on it sits low, some one any taller or with another seat may want the 14 or 16 that they offer. I have some factory pics I can send too if you want, just pm your email addy to me. I would like to say if you do get one and install your self, they are very easy, but be sure and cover the head lamp with the packing back it came in or a old bath towell, I put one over the tank too. It does not take much to chip that pretty painted light, I also carried a small towell to make adjustments in it and keep one hand on it while you adjust the angle and a small movement can make a big difference.

Thanks B B for the comment and welcome, looks like there is some nice people here with good ideals and problems, with info on how they got them fixed or who did it. Most of the time these message boards inform you more than talking to a tech who can leave you :confused5:

Thanks gotcha some times I like the way it looks then from another angle I dont geeeesssss and I thought my wife was bad :) The full face does keep the sun burn off your face from that pretty full chrome dash panel. I put Bose headphones in my full face and plug in the ipod ooohhhhh ya. But when Sweet Home Alabama comes on and I put it on repeat those flashing red lights show up in my rearview, last one I told the officer that I really didnt want to buy another driving award, he said I dont want to fill out another one, handed me back my license and said slow down please and have a good day, damn some of them do have a heart :2vrolijk_21:

Thanx tons for the pics and the opinion. I am looking into the same screen. I agree that they don't look great on the springer but at 100+ mph with any head wind it feels like I am going to get ripped off the bike and be tarmac fodder. I live in Germany the land of speed and it is daggone tough not to give it some juice. I think that my full face just adds that much more room for the wind to grab.
I am only 5'7" and was wondering if the 10" is big enough?

I like the Windvest on the Springer...I had one on the Vrod I sold to Hogbreath. It makes the bike more enjoyable to ride at speed. If you are below 70mph, it not a big deal not to have a wind deflector, but with the riding position on most Harley's, anything over that speed gets uncomforatble real quickly, full face helmet or not, as wind comes under the helmet and it feels like it's trying to tear your head off. The Windvest makes a huge difference and IMO flows with the lines of the bike very well. :2vrolijk_21:

I've got to agree with Terry here. I was resistant to putting any type of wind screen on the V, but hated the way the wind rips at your head at speed. I think the Windvest looks the least invasive on the bike and it is really amazing how much protection it affords at speed. Above 80mph, it really comes into it's own. I think it looks fine on the Springer and most of all, it will increase your riding enjoyment 10-fold. Enjoy it and keep it in the wind.

To answer your question from the other thread re wind screen. I ordered
H-D Springer W/S Docking Hardware Kit Part# 58907-96A and H-D Flamed Compact W/S Part# 57898-04 but ended up with i think #58770-96
this is on page 251 of the parts cat.
I am about 6ft 1in and ended up cutting of about 2 1/2 inches off it works great and can have it on or off in 30 seconds

Have someone hold a tape measure just above the headlight and inline with the front forks while you are seated on the bike. If your line of vision isn't compromised by the 14" height, go with that. If you don't have at least an inch of clear vision above the top of the shield, then go with the 10". The recurve on the top of the shield works great at moving air up and away from the rider, but also does a great job of distorting all images when you try to look through it! Awesome product though and I can't say enough about the build quality along with the nice chrome pieces and mounting hardware. The shield on the SE-Vrod goes on or off in a matter of a couple of minutes. If you plan on taking it on and off from time to time, you might also want to invest in their lined storage bag for the shield.

Thanx John and Craig...I will measure before I pull the trigger. John you have the HD not the Windvest? What is the price difference? Which is better?
Just trying to do as much research before I order because even if I want to change sizes it is a PIA to send back and forth from overseas.
