Another Former "Lurker"
« on: December 25, 2006, 05:13:02 PM »

Great job on putting this site together!  I've 'lurked' around and found this to be a great source of information.

I'm a long time rider, first time CVO owner.  I can't believe I own a bike with a dashboard!

I'm Charles, and I'm currently deployed to Iraq.  I'm a contractor supporting the US Marines at Al Asad, Iraq--in the heart of the Anbar Province.  I've been here since December 2005, and hope to leave sometime early March 2007.

I heard of the new and improved HD models back in July. After much research, I knew one of the Ultras were being built for me.  I had to work through my daughter in the states to make the deal for me, but after working through several unique obstacles, I can now say I am an owner of an 2007 FLHTCUSE2, 'smurf-colored'. According to an official HD Brake Certification (required for Japan registration), my bike has a manufacture date of September 11, 2006-neat...

One thing I'm not too happy about is the horsepower reported on this certificate.  This certificate, from a Market Compliance and Vehicle Identification Specialist at HD Customer Service, reports the horsepower rating as 87hp@4000rpm.  I'm a bigger fan of torque, but still disappointed in this reported hp.

I normally live/work in Okinawa, Japan, supporting the USMC IIIMEF. When I leave here, I'll have to go through the states and make arrangements to ship my bike to Okinawa.

Thanks for all the info posted on this site.

Welcome to the site!   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   This site is a wealth of information and a lot of fun.  I am a passenger with TCnBham and lurked for a long time on the site.  Not only do you learn a lot on the site, it's a lot of fun.  We are a family, and it has become even more fun since we attended a CVO rally in October in North Carolina.  Putting names with faces and personalities was great.

Terry has a 2006 Screaming Eagle Ultra, a 2006 Screaming Eagle VRod, and a Ducati ... all red!   [smiley=apple.gif]  We live in the South (Alabama) so there is very little down time riding.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   We usually ride every weekend and have taken several 6 hour rides and one 12 hour ride.

Take care of yourself in Irag...not too long before you'll be riding in the wind on your new bike.   :)  Be sure to post pictures of your bike.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks JR.  As with my last bikes, my first additional purchase was the service and parts manuals. My daughter's holding all three for me.

My original mod ideas were purely aesthetic.  But, after learning more about the true stock power/torque numbers, I think I'll have to consider a few performance mods.  Have you heard of anyone using the Woody'd Blower on a stock '07 110" yet?  I almost bought that for my '02 Ultra--then I learned about the 2007 changes.

Hi Suzanne.

Thanks for the welcome. Is another meet planned for NC? I'll have to go to Camp LeJeune for a few days, to check back in, sometime in March.

At this point no plans are made.  Keep looking on the site under CVO events.

Charles,
Welcome to the Internets best CVO/Harley website, and we are glad you joined us. Thanks so much for your service in support of our troops overseas. Sounds like you are in some of my old stomping grounds "The Rock" (Okinawa). I spent a tour there back in '76 - '77, then went to Camp Lejeune from '77 - '78.

As for performance mods on your new scooter, give it just a little more time and you'll see all kinds of things coming out to boost the performance (cams), and I wouldn't be in a rush to get a blower just yet. ;) With this motor being so new it has taken the aftermarket a few months to do some R&D before they can get something out to unleash the beast in them.

Stay safe, while you are away, and enjoy your new ride when you get back to Oki.

Thanks All, for the welcome and the kind words.  All the guys here know you all support them, which makes doing the job here much more meaningful.

I'm not in a hurry to start modifying this bike.  I have an '02 FLHTCUI, which I've put over $9K of extras into.  I'll review the posts here and learn what works best from the experts.

Fired00d, I'm sure you know there has been a few changes on the rock, in the last 30 years.  Any chance you'll get back over for a visit?

Have a great New Years weekend All. Shiny side up--rubber side down...

I'm sure there have been quite a few changes since I left there. Doubt I'll get back over there anytime soon. I enjoyed it immensely when I was there, but back then I was young dumb, and.... Oh well you get the picture. ;) Just the thought of this subject brings back so many memories. ;)

You have someone stationed at Camp Lejeune? I spent some time there with 2/2 '77 - '78.
