Title: 2017 Home!
Post by: acevtwin on September 12, 2016, 11:00:23 AM
Got my new CVO Streetglide home Friday. Heres a few things I've noticed so far. The clutch hits Really late. Will take some getting used to. Also, when I shift I can feel the clunk from the transmission in my clutch lever. And most noticeable is a strange whirling sound coming from the drive belt I think. Maybe the rear wheel is not aligned just right? The whirl sound is not effected by engine RPM or the transmission. The bike its self is very nice. The engine pulls hard. Im very happy to get ride of all the valve train noise I had with my 110. This is the first CVO I've owned that come with the out door storage cover.
Now to get some sort of pipes or slip ons for it. It just doesn't sound like it looks.

Congrats.  Glad you were able to work out a deal with your dealer.  We will have to get together and go for a spin.  I had the street cannon mufflers put on along with the new harley street tuner and the sound improved significantly.

Go in to your pictures and make the picture size smaller so you can upload.

Couldn't keep Go     ! in the quote.     :cherry:

If you're using a phone to take the pictures, just go into the camera setup and reduce the resolution/size.  Most phones come set at the maximum resolution, and that can create some rather large files.

The clutch still grabs very late on the 17 as well? My 16 CVO grabs late...my 14 street glide special hydraulic clutch grabs about 25% off the grip..much easier to manage!
I don't get it....

one other thing that will take some getting used to, It idles at 800 rpm. It can give you the impression that it is about to stall.

Now if it would only sound like a shovelhead or evo when it was idling.... oh the days.

I bought from Brighton. I used to work at American Harley Davidson years ago so I still have a few connections at Brighton.

Very cool, minus a sales tax issue from buying out of state they were easy to deal with. Long ways from Nebraska though.

Enjoy your new bike.

I'll be taking her in this morning to have the 1K service done, I have just over 1100 miles on her in five days.  A few little warranty issues to take care off also.

Ok Dave, since this is a new motor along with some other "new" things, what warranty issues cropped up for your new bike in the first 1,000?  This could be good information for owners of a new '17... :2vrolijk_21:

So far only three issues, none related to new motor.  Right saddlebag power lock was not locking bag.  It was just not adjusted correctly.  Head light aimed low, like about every new harley.  Rubber coming off handle bar grips.  Thats an issue with the grips they have been using since 15.  They were replaced there times on my 15.

I just ordered the Color matched chopped tour pak. I'm kinda bummed Harley still doesn't have an exact match back rest pad yet. Had to order the one for a 2016.  It's pretty close.
I'll post pics when in and installed.

And the last pic, sorry they are crappy pictures. I just peeled back the cover far enough to take it. I still wish they offered a matching backrest pad.

I am Interested! I got the bike pretty much the way I want it except still getting used to the clutch. I thought it was just something we all would have to live with.

I'm not sure if I'll be doing the install myself or if I'll have the dealer do it. Depends on the difficulty obviously. I'll post updates w/ pics once completed.

Hey, ACEVTWIN, this lever is a must. What a difference it really makes. It has 8 adjustable positions. I have mine set at 3 and it moved the the lever so the engage/disengage point is about 1-1/2" away from the grip. Install took all of 3 minutes. I will attach pix Monday.

Pretty much. The cam moves the lever in or out. The number 4 setting is close to what our stock levers are at. The number 3 setting brings the lever back to the perfect position for me.

Got my adjustable levers today.
Here's my thoughts;
Yes it has made it a bit easier than the stock set but the short levers are well short, the average person can't put 4 fingers on the lever. Ergonomics aren't great as it not as rounded as the stock, may be uncomfortable for some riders.
All in all until HD release a set of adjustable levers you don't have many options.
It makes a bad design by HD at least bearable.
Easy to fit even with pain in the arse circlips.
