Title: What seat are you riding
Post by: Gkup on February 25, 2017, 07:53:51 AM
I have a 16 street Glide CVO. I don't mind the seat for short rides and around town but long rides not so much. I like the low ride and looks of the stock seat. What are you all running?

Corbin Solo Tour.  I bought an Ultimate seat and had to return it, thing lifted me up about 3 inches... felt like a monkey on a tricycle.

I can't add more than 1 picture here, so here is the comparison I did on another site: https://streetglide.com/showthread.php?7096-Corbin-SoloTour-vs-stock-CVO

If you find an aftermarket seat you like, I'd be interested in buying your factory CVO rider and passenger seats. Thanks

How tall are you and how does this seat position you?  I just bought the same 2017 Black/Red SESG and found out that the stock CVO seat pushes me forward about 1-1.5" closer than the stock Street Glide seat I was using on my Limited.  I'm 6'1" and I feel like I'm sitting on the tank and definitely sitting on personal items that make for an uncomfortable ride.  Around town and work to home are fine, but riding for an hour or two is uncomfortable.

Thanks.

I am 6.2. Seat crazy comfy with no issue with "the boys".. I had them do the gel pad with the Air hawk

I used to be a Corbin fan. Liked the seats, hated the crappy customer service.

I have had a Corbin seat on all my bikes the last 20 years but decided to try the Russell Day Long seat on my current HD. Not the prettiest seat I ever had but by far the most comfortable. No pressure points and so far a couple of easy 1,000 mile days in the saddle. (15 hours in the saddle).

It depends on your riding, if you only put on a couple of hundred miles a day, any seat will work and some are more concerned with looks than comfort.

I am happy I have an alternative to the crappy customer service at Corbin, and a better one that is. (But not pretty, looks like it was stolen from an old tractor)

Believe or not but I'm using a stock standard Streetglide seat for any long rides..
Bloody comfy enough for me....
But I go back to the CVO seat for short runs around town etc...

I had a HD Sundowner dual on my '12 which worked great.  I'm actually a believer in the stock seat on my '15.  Many miles in that saddle so far with no issues whatsoever.  Previously, all my aftermarket saddles were some sort of Corbin product of which the first was on my 1994 FXSTC.  I put 30K plus miles in that saddle and it sold me on them and I've had one on every HD up to the '12.

Same here.  Finally put my stock Street Glide seat that I used on my 2011 Limited on my CVO.  Much more comfortable.  The biggest problem for me is that the CVO seat pushes me about 1" to 1.5" farther forward.  Just enough forward that I feel a little cramped with the controls and highway pegs (I'm 6'1").

Same here. I have a  standard SG seat for road trips and so I can use the HD riders backrest. I have the CVO backrest when the CVO seat is on, but both the backrest and seat are only good for a few hrs of riding (day riding)

I ran a Danny Gray Big solo on my 09 SERG for 45K miles.  Ran a Corbin solo on my 12 SERG for 46K miles then put it on my 15 SERGU for 44K miles.  Still have the seat.  so far on my 17 SESG I am running the stock seat, 650 miles is longest day in it.

I realize you are likely only interested in solo seat info, but as an FYI - I have a '16 Road Glide Ultra CVO seat for long distance touring with the Mrs. when we add the tour pak.  This Harley seat has the same (more or less) carbon fiber trim as the stock SG seats.  So going into touring mode still looks like factory fit. It's a big comfy couch great for long distance, but I don't care for the pilot position vs. stock seat. I'm raised 1.5" and forward 1".

I have a 2010 FLHXSE. Replaced stock (collapsible) seat with 2011 FLHXSE seat, backrest. Quite comfortable even on long trips. Spouse not thrilled with pillion for other than short rides, so have a stock Ultra seat for long two-up trips.

Running a Corbin Gambler that's been made more comfortable by a local upholstery shop (The Upholstery Zone).
