Title: Cams & Shocks.
Post by: inthewind on June 28, 2015, 11:33:01 AM
Hello CVO group....
I am the proud owner of a 2005 CVO  :cherry: ! Just a couple of questions. I know the stock shocks on my cherry are 12" . Can I put on 111/2" 440 progressive shocks off a 2012 FLHR ? Also I am getting the HD  Cam plate tensioner upgrade kit  # 25284-11 installed  plus S&S ajustable push rods, at that time I am thinking about putting a Cam in . I like the SE 204/255 and the S & S 551. Upgrade to gear driven cams ? Or leave chain driven ?
Thanks .................... :2vrolijk_21:

You may want to take a look/search some of the threads in the topic specific boards to your inquiry... Twin Cam (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=19.0) for cam choices, and
Wheels/Tires/Suspension/Brakes (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=34.0) for suspension information.

You may also want to go to this board New Member Introduction (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=30.0) and introduce yourself to the site.

Jim put gear drive in my seeg 60000 miles ago. No worries but it makes a little noise now.

Stay with the chain.

On a later bike definitely stay with the chain.  The all too common eccentricity of the crankshaft all but demands it.  His is a 2005 though.  That is a pre-crap vintage for the crank issues.  Gear drive is a legitimate option on this one.  Still want to measure the crank.  But if it's good to begin with the gear drive is worth consideration.
