Title: Michelin Commander II's for CVO Custom at American Moto Tire FINALLY!
Post by: 06cuse on February 13, 2016, 08:20:10 AM
Since I do a little riding I keep a set of tires on the shelf.  Yesterday RGKen and I installed an American Elite on the rear of his skunk.  We broke it in with a high speed 276 mile putt:smile:

So this am on AmericanMotoTire I ordered the first set of Michelin Commander II's for the Skunk - Could only find the rear on JP Cycles.

I have ridden a couple of miles and the commander II's have been my choice hands down.  We CVOers have been waiting for these for quite awhile.

I have a set of elites I will use before I get to enjoy the Commander II's

Are you saying they now make a 180/55-B18 with a 80H load rating?

Took just a moment to find it but does look like Mother Harley's monopolistic stranglehold on that one is now over.  At this link:

Nice, so those of us with the 18 front and rear now have 3 choices- Dunlop American Elites, Metzeler 888, and these Commanders.

I figure I'll be due for a full set halfway through summer, for sure before my annual long trip at the end of July, so I will keep my eyes open for review threads on all these.

Michelin brags that theirs are long lasting (twice as long). I never like the sounds of that. Suggests they are trading off grip for longevity.

Well I'm not sure what the rest of you are looking at, but when I go to American Moto Tire and look at the available sizes for the Michelin Commander II, there is NO 180/55 B 18 listed.  The only 180 listed is for the 16 inch rims.

Anyone have a direct link to the 18 inch tire you guys are talking about?

Jerry

Btw, the official Michelin site also does not list a 180/55 B 18.

It was there a couple days ago Jerry.  Now the link isn't showing a tire.  The screen shot above was from that link.  So it was either premature, in error or very limited stock.
