Hi guys,
I have been without a bike for 3 years now and would like to get back into the wind. I found at a local dealer a '05 SEEG Yellow with 22,001 miles for $14,999. Does that seem like a good price or is it a little high? I'm not sure as I've never really considered CVO's before, but this one caught my eye.
Thanks,
Jon

That is about the going rate for them now. Cam shoe tensioners will need to be replaced around the 30,000 mile mark. If you shop around, you might find one a little cheaper but condition is important. That is fairly low mileage for the age. Your call.

Jon,
You may want to get a hold of Shrader on this site there is a 2005 banana for sale right near him and is in good shape when I last saw it 1 week ago.

In my neck of the woods book value is around $13,900 average retail, and top dollar retail for very low miles and excellent condition nudges $15,000. I think it might be worthwhile to try to negotiate a bit to move them down off that high number. But if the bike is in outstanding condition, the asking price isn't out of line.

Yep, "The Father of Street Glide" is one of the best Harleys I've ridden in my 40 years of owning HDs...
Send Schrader a PM, that '05 Banana is definitely worth a look :2vrolijk_21:

It's true that Otis had a nice Yellow SEEG when he passed away. I think Marlene has it on hold for someone though. I know it has 28000 miles and needs nothing, it has new tires, Progressive Suspension cartridge front fork internals, Progressive 440 rear shocks, a upgraded stereo system, and much more. The motor is stock as far as I know.
I will ask her about the pending sale when I talk to her again, but I know she was asking less than 14K.

Thanks for looking out Shrader. Let me know what you find out. The more I research and look at these the more I like them.
-
I talked to Marlene Saturday and she is supposed to talk to the interested party ASAP to see if in fact he is going to take it. I will likely talk to her again this evening. I started the bike Saturday, its been sitting since Otis died in late November 15, and it started right up.

I pick my 05 up with 16k for $12, and that was from a Harley dealer.

I think I was lucky. I found my 2005 EGSE here in NC and it is almost perfect with only 31000 miles. I really don't know what has been done to the engine but its not stock!
Other than that I found only 1 small chip, it has new tires and this is the best riding and driving bike I have ever owned. I had a 2006 EG Ultra and this bike didn't ride and drive nothing close to my SE hands down :bananarock:

The old 103's were for the most part very good motors. However at 22k I would be changing those tensioners NOW. ;D

Rocketvette95 did you recently purchast the `05 S.E.E.G? Owned a yellow SE2 myself traded it back in the summer it was my firstHarley and had no issues with it 18.5 k at purchase, 4 years later 31.5k miles when traded.
Oils changed Amzoil 4500-5000 mi.- trans Red Line Heavy Shookproof. No problems with tensioners, but was geting time to replace them. Over all a great bike in many ways like the SE2 better than my `15?

We have a member here who had a Banana. He sold it to a friend, and then went and bought an new SE Street Glide in gun metal. In just a few months he went and bought the Banana back from his friend. That should tell you something about those bikes.

Being completely honest I have not enjoyed riding my `15 S.E.E.G as much as the 2005 S.E.E.G. F.Y.I. There are problems with the clutches (new design assist & slip 3 spring clutch) on 13-16 CVO Street Glides and several other newer non-CVO models. My bike has a new complete clutch assy and clutch master cylinder at 5500 miles. Beware H.D. dealers & corporate will deny any problems!
