Title: Are all Breakout CVO’s created equal?
Post by: overkill19 on January 13, 2018, 08:15:17 PM
So I had a 2013 Crimson... sold it as a guy gave me more than I paid... long story short. Shopping for a 2013 again.
So I live in Alberta Canada and mine had the license plate in the middle just below the brake/tail light, but the Molton silver I’m looking at in South Carolina has the plate on the left side and the owner said that it’s factory?

Is this true? I’d have to switch temporally to get my provincial inspection done but I’d switch it back as soon as I hit my driveway

Yep! That’s the way all breakouts have the license holder in the US

I did not know that, thx

I’ll have to see if I can rig a cheap bracket to swing the plate under the fender light enough to pass the inspection

Oh it won’t be pretty... I will prob use plumbers metal bracket ! I just need it for the government inspection/cash grab. And I could care less what he thinks it looks like.... it won’t leave the trailer!
They just need to see the day time running lights, speedo in KMS, lights and plate in right places!

If you want fancy... I’d buy that Aussie one in the other thread ! It’s not cheap ....

Oh wow!  I think my wallet likes the side mount.  Lol.  Thank you for posting that though. It looks good.  Maybe someone else will create another version of it.

Here in Australia , my 2013 Breakout CVO has a speedo that showed k's Only ( no MPH option !)

Whereas a used ex-Florida low miles 2013 CVO Breakout , same Molten Silver as mine , the speedo could be 'toggled' from Miles to K's

That is a bike a good mate here imported to Australia 15 months ago , with only 900 miles up at the time.

And yes he had to "Australian compliance" the number plate/indicators etc etc

If that's the same as the one you are referring to then you won't have to buy a new Km/H speedo , but maybe you know that already ?

Yes thx, I’m hoping I can toggle mine from miles to kms.... but if not it’s only $580 cad for a new one so not the end of the world if I have to buy a new one. Which I’ll be surprised if I can’t toggle it.
I’m assuming the bikes built for the Canadian/United States markets are built to land to ether side. I’m shocked your speedo is Km only! Strange they would make a separate speedo? ...not very cost effective !

Yes , "plonker" Australian design rules...MUST be K's only since 1986 or so

I brought a 1977 4 speed manual Corvette here in 1995 , it had miles on the outside and K's on the inside of the speedo , but it passed with a bit of whingeing

As for "cost effective" on an HD to have a K's only speedo , most of the world is "K's", just the USA and UK use miles now as far as I know ?

I have just recently sold my Australian delivered CVO Breakout , but my 2008 FXSTSSE2 CVO Springer was a US used import to here from Texas in 2011 , and I had to put a K's only speedo head into that bike. Genuine CVO brushed metal speedo in K's only. The ECM autoconverts the stored mileage into Kilometres on the odometer

I like the way this one looks too, still not sure if I’m going to move mine from the side or not.
