I just read an article where CVO owners don't put the miles on their bikes that other HD touring owners do...This is my third HD touring ride and my first CVO...the first two, I rode the piss out of them. I can't see where this one will be any different. Over on the Harley Davidson Forums, there are guys with over 100k miles on 2014 and newer TK's.
What kind of miles are the CVO owners here rolling on??

Fake news or not, the fact is MANY Harleys barely get ridden...lot's of bikes barely get ridden...hell, lot's of boats and motor homes barely get out of the yard. It's a fact of recreational vehicle ownership. I know lots guys with bikes that have dry rot tires of all variety.
So the question remains, How many of our loyal membership rack up miles and what about members who have low mile bikes.
It's a legit question.

Over the years I've probably averaged 4 to 5K a year until I went to my 1st CVO. My 2011 SESG I averaged about 6500 miles a year. In the last 16 months on my current CVO I have a little over 14,000 miles. I am kind of a fair weather rider and it does rain quite a bit here around Seattle but when the weather cooperates it's gorgeous. I must say I love this new bike.
Keep in mind for ME, I rarely ride to work as it's less than 3 miles each way and I'm on commission in the retail world so I rarely get time off but average 7 to 10 days a year of unpaid vacation and a few 3 day weekends.

I agree with rayson56. I live 7 miles from work, plus work was on-base being in the Air Force I don't like all the riding rules they have.
So not riding to work as some people do knocks out a lot of riding days and miles. I get out on bike nights, weekends and vacations.
Having said that I just retired so I plan to put more miles on in the future...I have owned my 2013 for 4 years now and have 20,000 on it. Only put 250 miles on it last year having moved twice.

2018 with 38,000 miles. Usually average around 30,000 miles/yr.

I traded my 2015 CVO Limited on a 2019 CVO Limited a couple of weeks ago. I had over 56,000 miles on it and only major problem was a water pump replacement around 40K.
I hope I get the same or better results with the M8, 117 engine.

Since 2004 I've accumulated over 350,000 miles on 11 CVOs.

I've got a little over 33,000 on my 2017 and haven't even had it 2 years yet.

The last several years I have averaged 24K a year on my CVO's
2009 CVO road glide, traded with 47K miles on it.
2012 CVO road glide traded with 46K miles on it.
2015 CVO Road glide ultra traded with 44K miles on it
2017 CVO street glide, traded with 21350 miles on it
2018 CVO Road Glide traded with 24700 miles on it
2013 CVO Road King, my hot rod local bike, 24K miles on it
2019 CVO Road Glide, brought home Dec 24th, 4500 miles on it.
I work off shore so, I am at work 3 weeks straight where I can not ride.
Joe above me does more mile a year than I do.

I've got 50k on my CVO Ultra Classic and I've rode it coast to coast, Mexico and Canada.
My observation is that CVO owners ride further than owners of standard models. I've rode through many states with many members of this forum since 2003. Wow, 15 years! Get to know em and you'll ride long distances with em, too!

Looking for GeorgeW right now. He's at 97k miles on His '16 SERGU. I normally average about 10k per year up here in the snow belt.

I used to ride every day to work but now I can't so I have lost miles. I usually go about 10K a year. It may mix it up between bikes but I don't not ride mine because it is a CVO. My riding habits are the same and as mentioned above my wife and I ride more. We got into the CVO for a better experience on the rode.

I traded my 2011 two years ago with about 35k miles. I have a bunch other motorcycles so my miles get spread out over all of them. I think a lot of CVO owners probably own more than one motorcycle which contributes to them having lower miles too.

My 16 only has 8500 or so. Picked up June of 2016. The last two summers were really busy with family and other things going on. Hoping to get somewhere north of another 5k this summer. For us it's lack of free time to get as much riding done as we want.

I agree with the early comments in this thread. Too many toys or priority... Who knows...we all have more disposable income than we had 30 years ago. The toy market is getting somewhat saturated and prices are coming down. Brand or activity has all experienced a decline of some magnitude.
My riding has changed since kids, but we've averaged 7500 a year on our cvo, in a northern climate where I can't ride to work because a drive a pickup for my job. We also have a Honda, BMW, and FXDWG, beside our four wheeler and UTV.
I figure the miles will increase as the kids get older they love to ride so far. Hopefully we get back to the 10k mile summers sooner than later.

Circa 7000 miles per year. Mostly 8-1500 mile spring to late fall trips solo & small group. 22,000 miles seems to be the tap out norm for my attention span and inner trade value clock.

Yeah I bought my CVO as man cave decoration and to tour as it appreciates in value $$$$$$$$$!!! NOT
In 11 years now the wife and I have owned 4 HD Touring bikes pushing a total of 120 k miles. We have had the CVO 19 months now and only have 15 k miles which is off pace but that has been due to job change and weather. We are still taking trips but not doing as much local weekend warrior rides.
We bought the CVO to better enjoy the ride and the bike has delivered. It has been to South Florida twice, Daytona Bike Week, Rolling Thunder, York HD Open House, Myrtle Beach twice, the full length of Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and in a total of 11 states. We even did a one day "Five State" ride 7 am to 8 pm, 550 miles (NC, TN, KY, VA, WV).
Don't buy it if you aren't going to ride it.

62,000 on 2013 King. I bought the bike used in May 2015 with 5000 miles.

I ride thecrap outta mine. My 09 has 25,000 miles on it. Thats a whopping 2,500 miles a year. But if you figure I put 15,000 miles on it the first year, my average drops quite a bit.

Last couple years I was between 10 and 15k miles a year. Bought my CVO in Feb, put on 600 miles even though low temps here in Michigan. Bike was getting total motor rebuild for 2 1/2 weeks and another 300 ish put on since Monday. (now thurs morning)

If I use the metric system, I have 22,500 kms on a 2017 CVO Limited. It would have been more, but the dog ate my homework.

There are some impressive miles rode here! My question is when do your all get to ride with a 5 day a week job, family, yard work, winter months ect..ect. 8)

I'm embarrassed to say I only have 21,000 on my '15 SERGU. It's been ridden to SD twice and Toronto once and numerous other shorter trips and to work year round but it should have, in my opinion, twice that in almost 4 years. I ask y'all for forgiveness and will try to do better in the future... :bananarock:

Got my 07 in 2011with 6k on it. From 2011 to 2015 I only put 3,500 on it that made 9,500 in miles.
Since i retired in 2015 I've added 15k to it in 4 yrs. Now I'm at 24,965. And running good (knock on my wooden head) ;D

The last three bikes I have bought (and still have) were all used CVO's with low miles, lots of them out there.

What I seem to see with the CVO Touring bikes is either High milage or very low.
I saw two 2018's CVOs side by side on sales floor, my trade 25000 miles next to one with 1700 miles.

I think the dealerships use the high mileage on the CVO so they can give you a lowball price on trade in.

Bought mine used in 2015 with 5000 miles. It has 74,000 miles now. Last year was a record year for me with 26,000 miles. Trying to hit 30,000 this year.

I purchased a 18 last August, but starting out with the mileage was slow. It took me 6 months for the first 1000, mainly impacted by the price. I it the most expensive vehicle I've ever owned. After the 1k it took me about 6 months to put another 4 k on it. In July after the 5k service I have taken longer day trips, which now after the sticker shock has wore off and a new seat (Danny Gray IST solo air) and new bars (Yaffe 12 Monkey bars) the bike is very comfortable for me to ride. I now have almost have 8K on it, that's about 1k a month now. I think the big topic is motivation, I had a 11 Victory Vision and put over 75k on it in 6 years, but an accident and learning the differences (bought a 17 RGS an hour after the accident) between the bikes I have owned has really caused me to get motivated to ride. At some point a decision needs to be made if you are going to look at it or ride it. The bike is going to depreciate no matter what I do, so why not have fun with it.

I also understand buying a lemon, and quickly selling a lemon. But to choose NOT to ride to "keep the mileage down for the next buyer", is like saying I'm not having sex with my girlfriend so she'll be pretty and not used up for the next guy.
But I could be wrong.

My 2018 FLHTK has about 46K on it. I looked at trading it in, but that didn't go too far. Oh well. I guess I'll just keep riding.

I thought I had posted to this thread already. I've got roughly 140k since 2003. almost all of it riding in circles on a rock or two in the middle of the ocean.
I spent 4 years unable to ride and the last year have gotten back in the saddle racking up 12k. My peak 22k/year.
I bought my first CVO in 09. traded in 2012, the bike sat from September '14 to October '17 with 38k and got traded... the '18 I currently ride sat upstairs at the dealer for 9 long moths while I recuperated from spinal surgery.
Needless to say getting back in the saddle wasn't the easiest thing to do but it felt so damn good after just about 4 years.
I'll keep riding them..
