Maybe Harley should put someone in charge that actually "rides" and understands what a motorcycle manufacturer should be. Even the clothes. All the emails I get touting their new clothing are worn by models who look like they have never ridden or never will ride.

I agree.

Agree. A rider not a bean counter.
HD clothing ads look like Zoolander.

Lmao, thats funny but so true. The slim fit stuff, whats that about?
-
I agree as well.
BTW I did have the chance to see BMWs R18 prototype at the motorcycle and power sport show in Columbus Ohio last year it’s a pretty cool looking bike in person.
-
Isn’t HD now being run by a guy that made his bones at a tennis shoe company? And before his termination, didn’t Levatich bring in a protein bar and soup guy to focus on marketing to younger generations?
BMW North America is managed by a female who rides. Ducati’s CEO is an engineer that’s been with the company for 26 yrs...and he rides.
How about a HD CEO with a history of motorcycle industry involvement, whether that be in Europe, Asia, or the US.
-
New H-D CEO needs to be some one who is a avid rider and has at least 25 years motorcycle industry experience. Top Staff needs to understand todays motorcycle riders and buyers.

Have to agree with ya.

Same for the dealership owners. The guy who bought (and closed) the St Petersburg Florida dealership doesn't ride. Heard his wife won't let him? He did reopen in another location outside St Pete.

Over the last decade, it seems HD dealerships have been bought up by groups that are just looking at the purchase as an investment...no passion for motorcycles or riding. I’ve also noticed how many dealership employees do not ride. Didn’t used to be that way.

SMHD was opened Laborday 2004, a new dealership. The owner is an avid rider, and a very good one at that. His sales staff rides, many in motor clothes ride, Most in parts ride. Mechanics ride. Many of the various other positions ride.
Since then he has opened 3 other full service dealerships, and my understanding is lots of riders working there too. He has also opened 4 T-Shirt stores.
The owner is very active in his dealerships. Owning a H-D dealership was his dream and it shows. Very lucky to have it 56 miles from my house.
His SMHD store was number one dealer in Country the very next year, last year his Pigeon Forge store was number one dealer in the Country.

SMHD is my favorite dealership in the country. Adding The Shed was brilliant.

SMHD is a great dealership. When we ride the Smokies we always make it a point to stop there. A good model on how a dealership can be successful & customer oriented & apparently still make money.
-
I plan to visit them in July when I out there to ride the Smokies. Have not been riding out that way but very much looking forward to it. Nice to know there good ol fashioned dealers still out there.

Owner is a musician. His wife is also a musician. Music is his second love.

What the heck does a bean counter have to do with modeling clothes?
Stupid comment - but it takes all types in America to think they are a genius
