Title: Black license plate holder
Post by: Blackline on July 30, 2020, 09:27:43 PM
Hey fellas new to the cvo crowd.   I have a 2011 Blackline Softail and finally decided to get another bike to own for riding with the wife.   So I got the 2020 Sand Dune Streetglide.   I love the bike so far but I wanted to ask what is the best black license plate holder that will go on the bike and will remain curved to the fender?   Still trying to figure out how to put pictures with my profile 😂.

Yaffe Stealth 3. Hands down the best made and for looks. I never was a huge fan of the "follow me" manufacturers of aftermarket stuff but I'm convinced on this product.

Check for the correct part number for your bike. I just provided a link so you can see what it is. I'll post up a pix of mine in a few minutes.

Also, jump over to the new member area and introduce yourself.

We have a yearly GTG in Maggie Valley in September. Hope it isn't too far for you to come and meet up. It's always a good time.

That looks great!!   Maggie Valley isn’t far at all for me.   I would for sure like to come and hang out.   When is it in September?    I will bounce over to new members and introduce myself.

Here's the thread with all the info and chatter about it.

Another option. I purchased the H-D black curved license plate frame. I the modified the stock CVO mounting plate. I narrowed it and bolted it on.
I have the Yaffe mount from my ‘17 CVO street glide in chrome. I needed black so I passed on mounting it on my ‘19. Plus I’m not really a big fan of the oval opening.

Looks good, how tough was it to modify?

This is a very popular option and by far my favorite.

Kury #3144 frame has to be powder coated (only comes in chrome). Bottom bolts are dummies. You need to drill 2 holes in your fender for the top 2 bolts. Plugs right in though.

Not too involved once I thought about it. Removed the license plate mount and cut the sides off. Took a piece of of aluminum to use as a backer plate for extra support. Used 2 Nylock nuts to keep it from vibrating loose. Here’s a pic of the nut side and backer plate.

I got this frame from Harley and will be installing it myself here soon.  Hoping it goes as smooth as yours did.
