Title: Andrews 34 pully

Im thinking of changing my primary pully to a 34 on a 2019 cvo Limited. Would any one know if I would need a new drive belt?
Also considering Bakers DD7, Have installed 131 Kit.Looking to take advantage of better gearing.

Should be enough adjustment but you can easily check.  Going to a 34 will shift the axle forward about 1/4 inch.  From Andrews Catalog.

Rear axle position change for each tooth on transmission sprocket = + /–.125 inches (3.2 mm)

lugging will never be really "better" if you get the rpm low enough [gearing tall enough] you will have to downshift constantly even with a 131.   over 40 years of messing with cars, trucks, harley's ive learned that too tall gearing is a fools errand.

its yours do what you want

I run a 34 with a 0.86 overdrive 6sp behind my 127.  Can't really use 6th until 60-65 but other than that there is no issue with the 34.  Just makes your light load shift points about 5mph higher.

In AZ with 75mph speed limits and you'll get run over if you are below 80 the 34 is really nice.

The two things I feel could be improved is a overdrive gear for the times I spend on the freeway and a lower gear for the times I get stuck in traffic or for slow speed maneuvering. So far from what I've researched the 34 along with the DD7 should accomplish this. I tried a 34 on my 2007 Ultra and it was fine on the freeway but lost to much bottom end. The 131 should solve that.
 So if I'm going from a 32 to a 34 I guess i'll need 1/2"  Not sure if I have that.

Damn it now I'm gonna have to add this setup to my parts pile (just need pistons & barrels).  Hell this set up would probably work for me now!  The freeways around here in SoCal now are like a race track, I'm always wishing I had another gear and less lugging in the lower gears.  Hey I love crusin @ 50 on a nice backroad but you have to use the freeway @ 80+ just to get one.  I've been working with cars, trucks, boats & bikes all my life and it bewilders me that people always skimp on gearing.  Gear it how u ride it.  The only down fall seems to be cost (looks like between 3-4K) but that seems inline with everything else with these bikes, its pay to play!  Keep us posted on how you like this setup.

I have 98 RK with a S&S V124 and a Baker 6 speed O.D. gearset.  I only use 6th gear if on hwy at 80 and above. 6th gear at 83 mph, motor is at 3k rpm. I don't like to to run motor below 2800. I normally run 3k to 4500 rpm. Rarely hit 5500, 6k rpm one time. Bike is just too dam fast for West Louisiana and East Texas roads to use 6th gear at upper rpms.

the fundamental issue with too tall gearing and too low RPM is that the oil pump runs with RPM.. lugging causes bearing damage because the oil pump is running slower so there is less oil COOLING to the moving parts.  just because the engine has enough torque to run 2500 full load at 65 does not mean that's actually a good idea unless you figure on a new bike every few years. im old enough that HD won't ever be able to sell me another new bike.. [unless i win the lottery i suppose] lower gearing might sound good, but it lessens the longevity of the engine.

Lots of road blocks! I’ve found out my cruise control will not work properly. Apparently the fix is to change the tuner and have it programmed and even then it may only work in 7th. I use my cruise control allot, it keeps my hand from going numb. Biggest problem is there goes all my warranty. Along with it will cost pretty much what the 131 kit did by the time the dust settles. So I guess I’m back to the drawing board.
