the new cast rim, wire spoke wheels. has anybody seen these? the pic looks cool, im wondering what they will be like
-
I saw them Sunday on the 2021 CVO Road glides, both Black Hole and Sunset Orange. The rims look better in person than they did on the reveal or the web site. I like them.
-
I saw them sunday. I wouldn't ride the bike home from dealer new without changing the wheels. To each his own, I just find them so cheap looking.
-
H-D is hoping people like them!!! Took them 2 years in production to build them.. I’m not a spoke wheel guy, But I do like the fact how the wheel protrudes out for the spoke connection.

That's so the rim can be tubeless and use tpms. BMW did the same thing on their adventure bikes rims.

I like the design, industry leading IMO
Hopefully the MoCo will keep these as a CVO exclusive & not offer them in the P&A book

I owned a bike with old fashioned spokes way back when and said never again after cleaning them the first time!
-
Harley makes it seem they came up with this idea but BMW has had it for years. I am surprised it took so long to finally produce a tubeless wire spoke wheel for their bikes. I do like the idea, but not so much on a touring bike. I wish them good luck.

A close up.

Looks sharp

This wheel is apparently going to be one of those "love it or hate it" design options. Everyone's personal design review will be both subjective and final. I saw one this afternoon in person for my first time also. Uhhh... not so much my cup of tea (or wheel) :puke:
-
Agreed. Had spoke wheels on my RK. Great look, hated cleaning them.
That rim looks like a bunch of wire tent stakes. Chrome fat spokes might have looked better, but not in that sparse pattern.

I know, it's not always the case that modern interpretations aren't as good. But it's hard to knock good looking spoked wheels. There no "there" there on the new one. No spokes in the spokes. The cast outer is... odd too. There's no design symmetry. Just doesn't flow. Can certainly see goals and mechanical gains that might come with the method. But personally just don't like the look.
If I want to mess with spokes I want some damn spokes!

Exactly! Wheel on the left is the best looking spoke wheel. Laced. :2vrolijk_21: Wheel on the right looks like some tie down project. What's the spoke count?

I still wonder if the design of that new wheel will give you that "invisible" spoke/wheel look when the bike is going down the road at speed.
That would definitely be a cool look and maybe part of the design process. :nixweiss:
When someone gets one you'll gave to let us know.

Right now I am not crazy about them...but.....they may grow on me. Kinda like GM/Chev trucks......every generation is ugly when it comes out.....but...when the next gen comes out the previous one looks better.
-
Just another reason why I drive this...
-
PS - I am a fan of spoke wheels on the right bike - Heritage, Deluxe, etc.
But definitely not on a touring bike and certainly not these new ones. JMHO

If I needed a truck....it'd be a RAM!

Going down the road I can't see my front my wheel. Or my back wheel. Not unless I've really screwed up.

;D
If those wheel spokes were invisible when not moving it would look a lot better.

Hoverbike? Hmmm.... :nixweiss:

This would be a good place to start a rumor about a Harley solar powered hoverbike. :2vrolijk_21:

No no no! Those are seriously ass ugly wheels. I had a Roadking Classic with spokes and they where beautiful but these look like something on a cheap pedal bike from Walmart LOL.
