Title: Low seat or normal height?
Post by: domx on February 07, 2021, 01:44:25 PM
Hi all - I bought my 2020 CVO Street Glide in October last year and have felt that my knees were too high from day1. I'm 5ft 11' and am now wondering if the dealer had fitted a low seat. I'm not sure if there is a low seat available for the CVO SG, but it just feels wrong. Any thoughts on this? See attached pics....hopefully!

Looks like a factory CVO SG/RG seat. They are intended to set you lower on the bike than seats that come on the CVO Limited.
I’m about your height and wasn’t able to get comfortable on my ‘19 CVO SG or ‘19 CVO RG seats so on both bikes I changed the seat.
‘19 CVO RG I put on a heated hammock seat from a ‘19 CVO Limited. On the ‘19 CVO SG I ordered a Bad Boyz seat with rider backrest.

Thanks Mofo67. I've decided to start with the most cost effective option and get a specialist to see if they can make the seat higher with more foam. If that doesn't work, it's onto a Bad Boyz or La Pera seat.

MoFo67, how do you like the BadBoyz seat? I’ve got a 2016 SG CVO with the stock seat. Seems like they are pretty comfortable for about 15k miles and after that the padding seems to fail. I like the look of the BadBoyz seat as it seems to be a similar design to the original. I do some pretty long trip so ass management is imperative
Thanks

For me I liked the seat, I’m about 5’11” and had the standard reach which was very similar to the stock seat in distance from the bars/tank, but does set up slightly higher. They also make an extended reach which I think sets you back 2”. I used the seat for about 6k miles in 5 months. During that time I did one longer trip and the seat was fine for 175 mile rides between stops. One caution is the seat is very narrow, for me that is ok since I’m a 34” waist. For someone larger I think it could be uncomfortable. When you set back in the seat it keeps you in place.
I really liked the backrest and hidden mounting nuts. The first time you install it it will be difficult but the seat softens once it’s been used some making installation and removal much easier.
If you send Bad Boyz an email George will respond very quickly. We actually talked several times to make sure the seat I received fit my needs.
