Greetings from the recently snow-free Spokompton https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Spokompton (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Spokompton)
Currently waiting for my first HD to ship - a stock FXR2 in red - reading up on Evos in general and FXRs in particular, in the meantime. Got the Clymer book, found the viewable owner's manual on the HD site, and for completeness ordered an original hardcopy FXR2 parts catalog from Elvis FXR.
Thinking ahead to maintenance, reading up on Evo vs TC oil filter specs controversy - deprecation of old Evo filters by HD - thinking to run Bosch 3330. ( https://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html#3 )
Learned that engine oil level is checked on the sidestand on the FXR - an arrangement I have not thus far encountered in the moto world.
That aside, been riding not quite 30 years, commuting, racing, dirt/trials, ADV. IBA member. Never owned a cruiser; never tried an FXR specifically. I really hope I can make it work as far as seating position, as the idea of keeping an Evo forever and passing it on to my kid (who only rides dirt for now) is quite appealing.
I'd like to mount a taller sissy bar perhaps with luggage rack, and run a sissy bar duffel-like bag. Panniers of some sort would be good. LeatherPro perhaps? Much to learn...

Welcome from the Tar Heel state!!!

Welcome from Spokane Washington.
Congratulations on the new ride.
Your first trip should be to Seattle, there you will find many people from your definition of Spokane, living on any open patch of ground, including hi way medians wider than 10 feet.

Thanks, fellas.
This is the one: https://youtu.be/OJHbjeSVpVM
Kaplan Cycles were auctioning off well over a hundred bikes to raise money for the New England Motorcycle Museum. They had a collector yellow FXR4 that went first, but I am partial to the FXR2's styling and color so I pounced. It's already on the truck; glacially slow delivery scheduled for the 24th.
The plan is to respect the "time capsule" state of the machine and keep it completely original, but to ride it and not worry about miles.
