Title: S&S V124 Front Head/Cylinder Seeping.
Post by: ltank on May 06, 2021, 06:04:52 PM
My S&S V124 front head/ cylinder gasket is starting to leak. It looks like it at the oil return from the head to cylinder. Is this a common problem? I always warm the motor by running it about 3 minutes and Ride slowly for 2 miles on dirt road before accelerating.
I have a RSR Air/Fuel Ratio meter and it shows good. The Sensor is in the front pipe. Any Advice?
 Is it something did wrong?

It could be a stud that's pulling itself out of the case. Are you sure it's the head gasket weeping, and not a bad exhaust valve guide seal, or loose guide letting oil exit the exhaust port between the pipe and port ? You can put an air fitting in your spark plug hole, pressurize the cylinder after removing the pushrods. That should point you to the problem quickly.

Bike isn't using excessive amount of oil. Maybe a cup of oil every 3500 miles. There isn't any oil in the exhaust pipe header. If it was a guide or a seal etc wouldn't it show up on the spark plug? Spark plug looks fine
