Title: Shock Height
Post by: RG13 on January 10, 2022, 07:25:04 PM
I currently ride a 2018 RG CVO.  I'm finally making the decision to change the rear shocks.  I love the way the bike looks with the 12 inch shock, even though I know that's part of the problem with these shocks to begin with.  Everywhere I read, it strongly recommends changing to a 13 inch shock.  What I want to know is if that 1 inch increase in height is noticeable?  I'm talking about WITHOUT sitting on the bike, with the bike on the kickstand.  I'm leaning toward Legends Revo-A.  I also know that Ohlins has a shock with the same adjustments as the Legend Revo-As, but also has an adjustment to shorten their 13 inch shock by 1/2 inch (HD 772 Harley S36 Blackline Twin Shocks).  Any thoughts?  Am I making a big deal out of increasing the shock height by 1 inch?   ;)

You'll notice your rear shock is not vertical but at about 40°. The ride height difference between 12 and 13 inch shocks thus is about 5/16". That's not very noticeable IMHO.

The 13” Revo shocks have a 12” ride height when the sag is properly adjusted. We sell dozens of the Legends and do highly recommend going to the 13” . The ride quality is significantly improved over the stock shocks.

^^^

Usually if you change the ride height significantly you will notice it with the way your bike sits on the kickstand. When upgrading to the 13" Revo A's as I have, you'll hardly notice the difference BUT, the ride is literally night and day. The warranty and service is also the best out there.

I highly recommend the upgrade!

I recently installed a set of RWD rears 13" cause that's all they make and they were a local pick up.  They come set up on the lowest setting for my weight so no lowering.  Great shocks, hell they probably saved my life after hitting a huge pothole / depression in Mexico.  But that said that extra inch is noticeable and I don't like it.  I will probably sell these and look for a set of 12.5's or 12's cause anything is better than the stock garbage.  Just my opinion

I have the same shocks on my RGS, great handling, cushy shocks. In my case, the ride height was maybe 1/2 inch more, not a big deal.
