Title: CVO  FXR  rear shock
Post by: hatchetjak on November 29, 2003, 06:11:24 PM
I have been told (by the dealer) that the rear shocks on the fxr4 are adjustable at the bottom with a spanner wrench....no way.  Am I missing something here, or are they not adjustable at all?

They are adjustable.  Top of the shock turns.  Although I haven't messed with mine in a while, I believe you can adjust (twist) by hand.  No tool required.  About 4 or five settings.   Pretty substantial adjustment.

Could you elaborate more on that top adjuster please?

Specifically...which way does what when turning the shock?  My rear suspension feels kind of hard/tight.  I'd like to soften it up a little.  Would I turn the adjuster to the left or right?

Clockwise lowers the bike which I believe should soften the ride. There are 5 settings (marks that go around shock) I keep mine in the middle or on the 3rd mark. On mine you can adjust fairly easy just using your hands.
