Title: 07' SERK EXHAUST
Post by: $$fathead$ on May 23, 2007, 01:44:51 PM
Hello, everyone! Glad to find group like this. I'm hoping to get enough information to make a decision on what kind of pipes to get for my bike. My last bike was a 95' RK, someone wanted it more than me (not really they just thought they did). Anyway, no insurance (was keeping it in my garage, not riding) that happend about 6 yrs ago. Haven't had the funds for sometime, and i couldn't decide what to get, until I seen the 07' CVO B/I RK. WOW, soon as I seen it I knew I had to have it!!! (w/insurance). OK so it's mine now (677 miles), my pipes sound like $hit. I have talked to all of the dealers in my area (Indianapolis, IN) waste of time. Eather they think I should buy the most expensive or what they have on hand. But I did talk to the kick a$$ shop in Munster, IN (Calumet HD, where I bought my scoot) Southside Johnny suggested a SERK and RH true duals and some time on the Dyno. But why i didn't go w/SS Johnny's suggestion is because he said both pipes would be on the RH side!?! Not sure I'm liking the void on the other. If you guys have suggestions, and pics!!, I would appriceate them. Now on the $$ issue, I'm not rich but I'd rather get what I want rather than settle. You guys fall asleep?

fathead,

Welcome. There are lots of choices, and lots of discussions on this board. Best performance: 2-1, but I have heard the Rinehart 2-1 is too small for the 110. The D&D FatCat is supposed to work well. I don't have any experience with either of these.

The two most popular choices are the V&H Ovals and the Rinehart True Duals. Both are great pipes, and are normally chosen based on a person's desire for type of sound as the two sound different.

Tough to pick pipes, all are copromises, but you are the only one who can figure out what is best for you.

Good luck.

My 07 SERK is running the RH 2-1 tuned with a sert and SE a/c.  It has been running fine so far.... around 3k miles.

Another mod was replacement of the rear shock with Progressive 440's ( Thanks Chief) and a ride str8 stabilzer, they were easy to install and made a big difference in the feel of the bike.
Cartridge shock for the front and maybe some new cams in the future. Good luck with whatever you choose.

On the picture I attached you can see the Rinehart 2-1 header pipe vesus the true dual look.
The SE (Screaming Eagle) is the Air cleaner under the factory cover

The SERK comes with the SE A/C assembly. The SEUC does not. Make sure you don't buy another one $$. If you want a much better filter, use the K&N HD-0800. It will replace the stock filter. Get a good free-flowing exhaust of your choice and have the ECM modified with a Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) or Power Commander (PCIII USB) or replaced with a ThunderMax with AutoTune (TMAT). This will get your bike running sweet and cooler.

Up grade the a/c not replace, and how in the heck do I make the determination on the eletric parts? Also I'm looking for a deep sounding, cool looking, and I think pipes under both bags. I would like to see a pic of the way the bike looks on the naked side.

I have Rinehart true duals on mine.  SERT and Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C

For your module choice, decide who is going to do your tune first, and then use what they recommend.  That should be the product they are the most familiar with and can tune the best.

If you don't like the look of only one pipe on a side, I believe you can get a "falsie" for the D&D's that gives the look of dual exhaust, and the performance of a 2-1.

Later,
Ghost

I'll bet your right.  This site is more educational than a set of encyclopedia.  And cheaper too.

And now that we have BSR's I get the feeling we're all in for an education.

Hey $$, I use V&H True Duals with S&S SPO Mufflers. Pics are here http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=10574.msg176549#msg176549 Not for everyone, but I love the sound and look. You might not. A TD will have mufflers on both sides. 2into 1's will have a muffler on right side only. Some 2:1 mfrs make a false muffler for the left to balance the look. You should look and listen to different systems. Everyone has their own preference on this issue. Hoist! 8)

Bike looks sweet Hoist, but your right, I don't think the look is for me. Anyone have pics of both sides w/RH TD? Would be greatly appreciated!!
