Title: Ohio to forum, Ohio to forum, Over...
Post by: EGUC7 on July 14, 2007, 11:11:23 PM
Hello from the Dayton, Ohio area.  My first post on this forum and I gotta tell you up front, I have never ridden a motorcycle.  I have, however, put 45,000 miles on my old Trike which was built in January, 2004.  I am retired, and I love riding, the people I have met and the adventures.  Three days ago, I bought an '07 SE Ultra which the Dealer is going to ride for a hundred miles or so, then we are going to put true dual header pipes on it, a SERT and a better air filter. After that, we will dyno the bike and convert it to a Lehman Trike. My question I am looking for help on is this . . can we use the SE touring mufflers that come stock on the bike?  I like the sound of them, but I don't know if they are physically the same (crossover pipe, etc).  I am not interested in getting the absolute last inch/ounce of torque out of the 110" motor -  I am interested in reliability and heat management as well.  I would appreciate any words of advice or suggestions that you folks have.  I am not an experienced wrench by any means, and hope to learn from others who have had experience.  The bike is the orange and black color one, and it is one beautiful bike.  Hope the Trike does not disqualify me from being on the forum but let me know if it bothers anyone.

Ride Safe.

Walt, Hello and welcome to CVO Harley.  You can use your stock mufflers with true dual headers.  I'm not too sure how accurate the A/F readings will be, since the tuner can't get the probe in the header unless he drills through the muffler........but it is doable.  I think it would be great to have a CVO Trike guy on board.  That will make you the expert!  Again, welcome, and have fun!

A big 3-wheeled welcome to ya--Konichiwa from Okinawa.  The only thing that disqualifies you from this site is U.  We even have some Jap-sport bike contributers.  We all enjoy the two/three wheeled freedom (though most will poke a lot of fun at the metric market). Thin skin may be another disqualifier but it is always a learning experience.

Wow - some of you guys are as nutty as I am!  What are you doing up at this hour? Here is my excuse - I am in withdrawl.  It has been over 73 hours since I rode my scoot.  Thats about the longest I have gone in the 3 years, six months, and about 12 days that I have been riding.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.  I would add that just about anywhere I go in the "biker" community, the Trike is accepted.  I was actually pretty worried about it at first, but have lost most of my paranoia.  I'm 66, played way to much football when sports medicine did not exist, got hit by a little old lady turning left in front of me when riding a pedal bike which destroyed most of my left knee, and I just can't balance a big bike.  So - the Trike is the answer, and its a lot of fun.  Of course the 110" motor had NOTHING to do with the decision to trade.

The plan is to get some pictures when the build is done (2-3 weeks???).  We are planning to paint the "box" on the new Trike the same black as the bike, and the painter we know is going to try and mimic the SE orange trim that is on the saddle bags and rear.  It is one gorgeous bike and I hope we can do justice to the CVO folks with the Trike.

Welcome to the site Walter.  :2vrolijk_21: I dont think anyone here would ever "disqualify"  you for having a cvo trike. As a matter of fact I'm sure that there will be a special topic & thread just for you and other trikes that would like to join. Please share the "transformation" of your ride with pics as it takes place.   :worthless:
