Title: 07 FXSTSSE Engine Recall?
Post by: FiveO CVO on July 12, 2008, 09:31:43 PM
Has anyone heard anything coming out of HD about recalling the whole '07 line-up of engines?  I just read on another forum about this rumor.  It said the letter should come out this month (not sure what that meant). Just trying to seperate fact from fiction.  My '07 FXSTSSE has now had the base O-rings changed-out twice. The first time was because the rear jug base was leaking big time with only around 2000 miles on.  The second time was the front jug started leaking and the dealer said HD had designed and were distributing a new style O-ring to fix the problem, so my dealer installed those during the second round.  Still monitoring for any new leaks.  There was a little leakage after the first day of riding, but still monitoring. In the last few weeks my voltage regulator went out and had to be replaced as well.  Good thing for warranty work, and the fact I purchased the extended waranty, otherwise I'd be broke.  So much for buying a CVO.  Don't get me wrong, I love my Springer and I get way too many compliments and looks from it, but this is quikly becoming a lemon bike.  Problem after problem ...  I'm getting ready to ship it from Honolulu to San Diego and ride into the HD 105th Celebration, and I'm hoping I make it there and back in one piece on this bike.

Sidenote: Anyone wanting to check out some sweet pipes and all-around setup, you got to check out RB Racing and their LSR (stands for Land Speed Record) 2-1 pipes.  These guys hold the Bonneville record for the fastest OEM Harley out there.  Got to check out the video of the 96" Fatboy with their Dual Nitro pipes on.  One word; Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet ...

Aloha my brothers from all the other mothers ...

It was the HD Forum.  I was looking at some other threads about JIMS 120" because I'm seriously considering of just changing out the whole thing.

Link to the thread?  Just did a quick search and found only threads on the service bulletins for ECM downloads.

Here's what the person said;
I read on the CVO forum that a factory "callback" is coming on the 2007 110s. \\; Supposedly, the fix involves a kit that replaces the gaskets, cylinders, etc. \\; According to those who have posted, a letter is going out this month. \\; We''ll have to wait and see if there''s any truth to the rumor.  I guess it came from this forum, not sure.  The thread where I copied this from is; http://www.hdforums.com/m_3581050/tm.htm

Funny that the person starting the thread stated they read it here then you start a thread wondering if anyone here had heard about it.  A real cyber catch 22.

The original post smelled of bubkus.  Never understood the need to feel consequential by being there first with the worst information.  If it's good and you know it's right then share.  If it's third party crap that you "think" might be ok if the pool boy didn't have his on jock on too tight, if you just made it up to be a big shot, or if you can't or won't source it than just shut the hell up.
