We will never forget, but will people who place such little value on life ever change their ways ?

To all the folks who lost family, friends, colleagues and loved ones we are thinking of you today.

Great thread, and very appropriate for today!  I'll never forget actually seeing the second plane hit the towers live...the horror of people falling and jumping. My heart goes out to anyone affected by this terrible act of cowardice perpetrated by ignorance. MY God doesn't want someone to die just because they don't believe in Him.

My condolences to all who lost family and friends in this historic tradgedy. I will never forget nor will I forgive those responsible. It is why every so often you see me post about turning the Middle East into a glass parking lot. My anger spills over into emotions which I know sound unreasonable, but that is the nature of men is it not. Thanks Howie for reminding us of the cost to all of us and may God Bless the souls of those brave men and women who gave all in sacrifice to their fellow man

Anyone ever listen to David Worley?  he used to come play at CENTCOM during the build up and kick off to OIF-  he has a song Have We Forgotten...think that is the name.

Makes me pissed off whenever I play it...and I play it in the truck with my kids and talk to my kids about why daddy does what he does and why I have been gone so much the last four years.

My way at least.

Thanks for all the pics.  I save every one of them and found that you can pause the youtube video and print pics from there also.
"Have You Forgotten" should be played every hour on every radio on this day. Every public school should dedicate the whole day to the study of this event, the people who bought it to us and the resulting effects that will endure indefinitely. The names and stories of the people who lost their life in these attacks should be chronicled in a collection in the Library of Congress.

Every person in the free world lost a great deal as a result of that day. The personal losses are immeasurable and cannot be comphensated or replaced but the total bill should be paid by those who continue to spread their terror around the world.

My anger peaks against these viruses on occasion when going though screening for a commercial flight. Once I lost my tooth paste and another time my plastic bag holding my toiletries was the wrong size. The cost to the airlines in added expenses, delays an compliance to new requirements has threatend their very existence. Material things can be substituted but not truly replaced. The very engines that propelled the aircraft into the World Trade Center, Pentagon and the Pennsylvania field were products of thousands of engineers computations, manufactures, production, installation and maintenance personnel.

So let us use today to remember and memorialize the people lost on this date, but every day do as Worley's song says: 'they took it off my TV.... if it were up to me I'd show it every day"

Wow... yes, I still remember exactly where I was on 09/11 and what I was doing.  I was setting on the end of the bed getting ready to head to the office.  Brushing my teeth watching television (the morning routine).  Just enjoying the usual stuff we all take for granted -- Nice Comfortable Home - A Car to Drive to a Business That I Own - In other words... FREEDOM

I could not believe what I saw on television when they broke in with the news that a plane had hit one of the towers.  And then while I was watching in disbelief, the second plane hit the second tower...... Right before my eyes there on the television screen I watched it happen.  How could this be?

On 09/12 we rallied together as a country to help each other.  And, we were all ready to kick butt and deal with the perpetrators.

But a year went by... then an other year.... And now seven years.  The things that were important to us on 09/12/01 just are not as important now.  We got back to enjoying all our STUFF and FREEDOM.  The terrorist haven't killed any more fathers, mothers, firemen, or policemen here at home.  So, getting the bad guys has worked it's way down our priority list - way down the list.

Forget?  Never!  We need to be reminded constantly, so we will remember what is important.

We need that 09/12 attitude again!

Yeah, we came together as a country then, and for the first time in a long time, this nation was united and focused on a single, non-partisan goal! Now, we're back to spending our time and rsources fighting internally about BS politics!!! Politics has no place in war! Leave the war making to our capable warlords, take the freakin handcuffs off, and let these guys do their jobs! We do that, and this world, especially this country, will be a much better and safer place!!! Put me in charge for only 1 term and leave me alone! You'll see how easy it can be to fix this mess so no one ever thinks of F'ing with us again! We must make the world fear us as they once did, and stop giving a chit about what they think of us!!! ;)

Pretty sad morning for me. I can remember exactly where I was at. Myself and 5 others form RS 1 of the Special Operations Division of THE DISTRICT of COLUMBIA FIRE DEPARTMENT some how all gathered at Engine 5 in the Georgetown section of the city. We had just got relieved that morning and had trouble getting back into the city in all of the panic that was going on. We had no cell phone service as all the circuits were tied up. What was really strange we had not talked to each other this is just where we all ended up. We then commandeered Engine 5 and headed for the Pentagon. When we arrived it was ass holes and elbows. I told "V" this morning I still can't get the smell of the A out of my mind.

It really kind of sucks. I got home at 2200 hrs that night and had to be back at 0600 in the the next day.

It is a shame how many people forget that day.

Be Safe

We will never forget.I work for a now French owned company and had to remind them this morning to lower our flag to half mast as a tribute. Had to argue with certain f*ckers as they said it wasn't a Nat'l Holiday.Headed out with tears in my eyes to do it myself. Some Union brothers stopped me and as the noise got louder they finally lowered our banner. This was a bad enough day but when I watched the news and one of the lead ins was how the 2 main idiots put aside their politics to pay tribute together.Gee what a sacrifice! WTF is going on

E PLURIBUS UNUM

Lets also remember the victims in the Twin Towers collectively came from 90 different countries. My brother-in-law worked in the same city block, he was one of the lucky ones that day. Its a day that is etched in our memories forever. Howie, we havent forgotten the tragedy, we lost the feeling of unity that we had so briefly afterwards. The whole world was with America for a moment. Maybe we will get there again without another tragedy.

According to Don Henley from the Eagles their band was set to begin recording on 9-11

As he puts it "for obvious reasons they did not, for many many days" but they did begin

the evening of 9-11 to write the following. There are many other versions of this available

on youtube. Search at your discretion.
